9498 Ciaò a Tutti

Hi to all ,
this is my first post just to introduce myself. My wife(Yvonne) and I live to the north of London and last year we bought a house in Limano, near Bagni di Lucca in northern Tuscany. We love the place and the area. I am doing an O.U. course in Italian and can speak it like a native, not.
A presto!

Welcome to the forum Wayne, I hope you enjoy it here.

Hi Wayne and Yvonne and a warm welcome to the forum from a neighbour, we are in the same valley. Limano is a beautiful place, we had a look at properties there as well when we were inspecting the region, but we did not find what we wanted and we settled for an old mill in Bagni di Lucca on the Lima river.
Possibly you bought the place through the same agent.... is it Jackie? She lives there with her family.

Ciaò Gala
Thanks for your welcome, much appreciated.
Yes we were shown our property by Jackie. Small world!
A presto

Hi Wayne, I also have a house in Limano and have been going there for many years. Is your place near the church tower? I wonder if I passed you this summer.

HI Wayne and welcome to the Forum!
I've just finished the OU L195 Andante Course, is this the one you are doing and how are you finding it?

Hi Wayne and welcome

We are a little north of you in Lunigiana. Have tried evening classes (just for tourists though) and Michel Thomas on the MP3 but never thought about OU. Any thoughts on it from anyone would be appreciated.

As I've just stated above, I've just finished the OU Course and thoroughly enjoyed it although there were only two face to face tutorials but there is Lyceum where you can 'meet' up using headphones and microphones to speak to each other. This was the first year for this course and there were one or two hiccups along the way so hopefully most of the problems will have been ironed out now. I think for those living out of the UK it is quite expensive. Check out the OU site for L195 Andante for more information.

Ciaò Adam,
Thanks for your post. Yes we live at 97, in the dip just after the the church. I may have seen you early August, and there was a lot of work going on opposite il campanile (belltower). Is that your house? Will be out there from wed. to monday to work on our new bathroom. Hope to see you soon.
Regards Wayne

Ciaò Lorraine,
Come stai. See I learned something on L195. Really enjoyed the course, but am quite happy to get my life back as it was a bit intense at times. Still, looking foreward to results. Bit anxious about oral part but written was fine. I enjoyed the course forum and i must say that if the OU gave ranks for the number of postings you would be a Senator. I only joined in occasionally.
We are back in Italy from wed to monday to work on new bathroom.
A presto
Wayne

Ciaò Coppicer,
Thanks for post, The OU course was really enjoyable for myself and as Lorraine mentioned does deal with talking to others online ocassionally, although most people wanted more of this.
I started with Michel Thomas and found him very good. The OU course is not cheap at Just over £400, or if you live abroad about £900. The course starts at the begining of Nov. so if you are interested there may still be time.
Good Luck
Wayne

Hiya Wayne

We have just purchased a house near Bagni Di Lucca and will be spending more time over there next year. We are also London based, living and work but Italy is our future!

Best regards

Chris and Cindy

Ciao Wayne,
just picked up your reply. No, I thought that might have been you with the jack hammer by the tower! My place is at the bottom of the village Via Chiassi. What stage is your renovation? There seem to be a few of us and maybe there is some wisdom we can share. I hope to visit soon.
saluti
Adam
