10780 Progress!

Having just given some thought to the process of getting a house renovated, I was struck by the helpfulness of the forum over the few years involved. I have often just looked in and picked up something helpful along the way. So please forgive the words below.

In these days of doom and gloom, when attention turns to bust, not boom,
I'd like to share a happy thought - it's the craziest thing I ever bought....
A house in Italy.

A casa colonica I think they called it, as a pile of stones our children saw it.
Nil desperandum my husband said, patron saint of hopeless cases, Thaddeus, known as Ted,
... meanwhile our project manager stayed in bed.

Two years it continued a ruined wreck, from England we oft made the ryanair trek,
To look at the stones in gentle descent, and eventually with anger pent,...
we found the 'Italy' forum.

It was about the most desperate time to be frank, when the project manager said 'no thanks',
I don't think this is the job for me, with the builders, the weather, it's a struggle you see....
We went online!

So we found an architect bright and breezy, who could organise our stones - it would be easy.
But the process was worrying and hard to understand.
However, there was wise, wity and honest help at hand....
..Our questions went to the forum.

Eventually our yellow stones were stood up again, it was often a case of re-make, not mend.
But now our Le Marche house is back, it's a glimmer of brightness when times seem black....
or rather grey when we get back.

So thank you all for words witty and wise, our simple house is a beautiful surprise,
we often just followed when threads untangled, messages came in when we were feeling mangled....
It made a difference you see... so thanks!

I'll definately second that. Glad it all worked out for you!

Loved the poem and so happy it has come together for you all.
Just shows it's not all pessimism when dealing with renovation in Italy, just patience.
