10789 Hour change

Half passed six in the morning and despite the mist it's so light. And didn't it get dark early last night? Couldn't believe it when I looked out around 5.30 and it was almost pitch black, very depressing, you forget, don't you? V

Having done all the clock changes to central heating, cooker, microwave, irrigation, TV, video, Hi-Fi, fridge and, eventually, all the clocks - we had an electrical short at 3am this morning in the main gate mechanism, so... I now have to do (nearly) it all again.

Drat, etc...

It's my favourite day of the year as I always think I'm getting an extra hour- by 8am I'd had a cup of tea, bottled some olives & done my ironing. Only problem was by 9.30pm I was having trouble staying awake!!

Why does everything electrical now have a clock?, and how many of those timers are '1 hour critical'? - video and central heating, yes - but irrigation, TV?

Try blanking the clocks out with masking tape - and see which you really need to be on at all

A few years ago, we had a power cut that set our microwave clock to zero - have never re-set it, and see no need to do so - I only use the timer function when cooking food.

However, I was outside last night encouraging the dog to lay his last "egg" of the day, when the irrigation started up. No, I hadn't given it a thought. Yes, we both got wet. No, Harry didn't lay his "egg".

And then, at about 3am, a slug committed suicide on the electronic control board for the gates, completely frying the whole system in the process. Anyone know of a slug samaritan hotline?

Ahhh at last a conspiracy I can express a view on! A lizard did the same thing to us about 18 months ago. I now suspect there is some secret training school for small creatures sponsored by gate circuit board manufacturers. Right here in Italy!
