Will Ryan Air cut back affect off-plan buying in Calabria and expected BOOM?

Now that Ryan air is cutting back on its flights, does that mean that interest in Calabria will slow down and therefore slow down its growth? It's not going to be cheap to get here now and neither will it be easy!

It would be such a pity! I've been coming to Calabria ever since I was little and have always wanted to see it improve economically; hope it's not the case that Calabria was given a bag full of sweets and now has had them snatched away by RYAN AIR... :madd:

Hi, Its going to make a huge difference to us personally. We usually fly from Stanstead to Lamezia but now have to do two flights. Although flying from our home town of Bournemouth is brilliant (only 10 mins drive) we have to stay overnight in Pisa then fly out the next day to Lamezia. We are hoping that ryanair will continue their flights from stanstead next year.
Regards, Cilla.

Hi Tinacara,

I think it will hammer the market. The number of homes being sold by the agents, I believe, has fallen through the floor. The CC has made people realise that the good old days of buying property and being assured of a profit are long gone. Ryan Air's decision to drop winter flights is just another spanner in the works, and it hits those of us who are just after a few relaxing holidays in the sun each year. Would hope that they will put them back on again in the spring but you only have to look at the financial news today to realise that we aint out the woods yet.

Dave

I see that Ryan Air are back on the Stansted/Lamezia route again from 29th March. Also for those of us in Scotland, they are launching Edinburgh to Bologna and Bologna to Lamezia. Unfortunately this route needs an overnight stay on both legs.

Does anyone know how long it takes to travel from Palermo to Reggio. I have also just found (it may have been there a while) that there are later flights from Stansted to Palermo on Mon/Wed/Fri/Sun. This may make it possible to do Scotland to Calabria within the same day.

Dave

Dave,

We are trying out Gatwick to Catania in February and the latter will be closer to Reggio than Palermo for you.

Thanks Jenroy! Which airline does that route?

Believe it or not were on a BA flight at £105 return plus I think Alitalia fly there as well.

Thanks for that. Will look into that route for the future.

After checking the route it is Air Malta, not Alitalia which also flies into Catania along with BA.
