I was reading Lawrence when in Sicily. The style is somewhat old fashioned but spot on as far as descriptions where concerned. They feel like furnished vaults…the carved cold furniture stands in its tomb, the air has been darkened and starved to death…” That was our room alright and it also stank of cheap disinfectant.

Would expensive disinfectant have made it any more pleasant? :bigergrin:

The pong of Dettol is certainly preferable to the stuff that they were using....oh and by the way the hotel website tells fibs. The restaurant is a quite seperate business and they do not allow dogs to enter....where as the Duomo (95 points in Gambero Rosso does!).
