I wonder how many people here were dismayed by the Forum being offline for about three hours this afternoon due to technical problems.

I for one got 'round at last to hoovering and some laundry. Don't please ask me how long these had been on hold!!! lol

Hi Sally
There have been no problems here ?

You were online all that time??? Maybe the problem was just in the UK???

I dont think so, I have seen posts from yUK members.............try unplugging your keyboard for a few hours.

:laughs::laughs: Just kidding :laughs::laughs:

Sure you are Ricky!!!

Anyway have a look at this. I think it proves what I experienced is correct!!!

Moi thinks you are therefore a very privileged person to have been able to access it!!!

I think you will found that everybody was on a diner break,3 hours being the norm on the continent...

My Gosh Sally.................

Almost everytime I visit this Forum most ( as in more than half!) 'latest' comments are from you.....................(4,136 posts to date !!)............Is this your job??!!

Greatest respect!:eerr:

Sounds to me like you may have problems Sally. Perhaps you should run a virus check???

I thought I'd been banned - was just getting ready to launch a Scud missile!

Sally is right, it did go down for at least an hour or 2 around lunchtime. Message that i was getting mentioned about the server, but didn't write it down:no::no::no:

I also got the message about not being able to access the site .

Amongst all the blurb was something suggesting that too many people were trying to use the site.

Is there a physical limit? [I think 300 was mentioned in the blurb]

.

I also had all sorts of funny messages and I did not have access. I do not know how long it lasted as I went out for a cup of coffee and a "passegiata"......

Sally was not imagining things or doing her housework in vain: the Magazine and Forum were off-line today. I have no idea for how long, but the error message I got was something to the effect that there had been a failure caused by too many connections to the server.

The possibility of a Denial of Service Attack did cross my mind, but I have no idea why Italy Mag might be targeted for that sort of thing, so assumed it was a technical failure of some sort.
Are you in Australia Gala?
No, JC, I'm currently in Spain.

Gala, honestly!!! I was going to post the suggestion you stay shtum and keep J+C guessing!!! lol

We were picking olives, may I go to sleep now please?, at one point 9 adults, 3 puppies and Rusty the dog, my cats are seriously miffed, have done very well though, thanks to all.
A

Yes Angie of course. Did you finish??? Anyway buonanotte a te.

The reason I asked Gala was because you said you took a "passeggiata" so I assumed it was eveningtime, but that will have probably gone way over Sallys head as she is currently preparing to take her own advice after finishing the hoovering and giving Angie permission to sleep.

Juliancoll it wasn't over my head for goodness sake, and I was just teasing. zzzzzzzzzz

We had a virus attack at work today, wonder if this site had one too....

Yes maybe Admin could report back???

So was I Sal, everyone knows that. No need to get upset sweetie.

It's a conspiracy Sal. You're not paranoid - they are out to get ya. :laughs:

hello all - apologies for the outing. was not in the office today so we didn't deal in time with it. we are getting unusually high traffic on the website which is slowing things down. We may manage to cope for it in the short term but have disabled a couple of features that were eating up a lot of resources (most visible of which is the Who's Online feature). Hopefull this will be back sometime soon as we identify exactly where the problem is.

Thanks Ronald and the best of luck.
All seems well .....
It happened to me today as well and this evening.
Thought I'd been banned! :eeeek:

Lot of paranoid people here!!! lol
hello all - apologies for the outing..
What I miss.........who was outed !!!!!!!!!!!:Dancing_tongue::Dancing_tongue:

I hadn't noticed a thing......Ronald, maybe we should announce some form of counselling sessions, likw at the end of 'traumatic' TV programmes?

"If any of you have been affected by the recent event, please don't hesitate to call................"

I had again the same problem last evening. Same sort of announcements. Let's hope it is fixed now.

What ever the problems (which I missed), my goodness how late you are to bed Ronald and Sally. Posting in the early hours of the morning. You obvious y do not have an olive grove!

I wish I had!!! I'll help happily and seriously anyone next year. So far I have a strong back!!!

Wonder if this had anything to do with the server overload. The last paragraph is rather worrying after reading that the site was overloaded.

This was the message displayed when IM went down the first and second time.

Unable to connect to database server
If you still have to install Drupal, proceed to the installation page.
If you have already finished installing Drupal, this either means that the username and password information in your settings.php file is incorrect or that we can't connect to the MySQL database server. This could mean your hosting provider's database server is down.
The MySQL error was: Too many connections.
Currently, the username is tozeur and the database server is localhost.
• Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
• Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
• Are you sure that the database server is running?
For more help, see the Installation and upgrading handbook. If you are unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your hosting provider.

Some of the messages I received were identical to what you quote, Geotherm.
