10952 Pet cremation

A difficult subjecct, but one that I know I will have to deal with soon.
I arrived in Italy (Avellino area) just 3 weeks ago, with Misty, my 17 year old cat.
Sadly she has kidney failure. Whilst I have found the most fantastic, caring and helpful Vet ever, here in Monteforte Irpino, we all know that Misty wont be with us a great deal longer.
So,whilst I am still able to think over this painful subject, can anybody steer me in the right direction?
My Vet will perform the euthanaesia, but doesnt know about cremation services.
Does anybody know of where I could take Misty, when its time? I should dearly love to have her ashes back afterwards too.
As far as we know there is a Crematorium in Naples and Salerno, but for humans.
Any advice would be great, for the future. Thanks in advance.

So very sad to hear this durobird. Could she not be buried instead near you??? Maybe neighbours might help too???

We are house hunting and dont actually know whereabouts we will end up living,in the Avellino area. But I have this thing about wanting her ashes to always be with me. (I have my dogs here with me,who died 4 years ago)
I dont really want Misty to be buried.
Hopefully she has a little time left with us,but I remember from when my dog died, that its hard to arrange these things whilst its all happening, and thats why I decided to ask for help now, whilst shes still with me.

Sorry I thought you were settled in a new home. There seems to be two vets in the region - Vet Avellino | PagineGialle.it Maybe ring the other, or indeed any vet within reasonable distance. They might just know.

Also contact Welcome to Romancats or gatti di roma - colonia felina torre argentina They are sure to be able to help.

Ah I have just found a similar organisation in Naples - STANNO MORENDO I GATTI DEL RIFUGIO DI NAPOLI

Thank you Sally. I had a quick look, but unfortunately I dont speak Italian yet! But I will get Roberto to read it all. Many thanks.

One website is in English. However here is another search. There are places. Crematoria animali Italia - Cerca con Google

Also pm Carole B. I'm sure she will come up with an answer.

There is a pet cemetary in Naples - up by Chiaiano somewhere - cant remember the name of the road, but I will find out for you.

Also on the Gattipoli site - there is a little bit of information about kidney failure in older cats - it's basic stuff and you are probably up to speed on treatment anyway, but I can translate it for you if you like and you think it may help. Will get back to you with the cemetary info ASAP.

I have sent this link to you in response to your PM, but it's not, as I explained in English and is based in Bologna. But, having said that, it may be of use/interest to others...

Maybe if you were to contact them they might know of a place closer to you, durobird.

You might want to check with the nearest faculty of veterinary medicine to see who they would recommend.

Here you go.
