10960 buying a home near Palermo,Sicily

Has anyone out there had some expieriences buying in Sicily? I've heard that if you buy a property that someone else wanted they'll bother you sevearly till you resell it for next to nothing.I was thinking of buying close to Palermo & i'm trying to avoid any of the pitfalls that may be associated.Any help would be appreciated.Thank You!

hello. I am an estate agent in Sicily - but, I have to add, not in Palermo. Im sure what you have heard has happened, and not only in Sicily, but it is the exception than the rule. There are things that happen here that may not happen elsewhere, but if you use a registered and legal estate agent you will be protected. Using a bloke who knows someone who knows someone, or a website that looks professional but has no contact information etc etc is asking for trouble. PM me if you want to know more.

Interesting stuff,all I can say is if that sort of thing is true,then surely they would be bothering the owner who was selling there property in the first place?
