Yes in the UK the law requires you (well it 'used' to) to stop if you hit a dog - but, surprisingly, not if you hit a cat!
I can't imagine that there would be a similar law in Italy, but even if there was - woulld anyone bother?

An awful story, but I doubt the driver will be prosecuted. The Italians, as lovely as they are, not at all sentimental about animals - let's hope he finds a good home now, he deserves it!

If the puppy had been chipped I dare say the owners would be getting a bill for any damage to the car!

Poor thing! I do hope that he will find a good home.
Says a lot for the Italian love of animals doesn't it...
First the dog is allowed to roam free (it says he was a stray) by owners who it seems didn't care - [U]no[/U] collar, [U]no[/U] microchip.
Then the poor mutt is hit by a car doing 70mph (about 120km) [U]on a side road[/U], by a driver who [I][U] confessed he did not even stop[/U][/I] when he clashed with the pooch.
[B]Didn't stop.....? [U][SIZE="4"]WHY[/U] DIDN'T HE STOP?[/SIZE][/B]
