Lally B's, Via Brindisi, Torchiarolo. Between SuperBrio supermarket and the post office. I'll let you know when it's open - maybe we can meet for coffee or lunch!
At the end of this month there is a new shop opening in Torchiarolo. Amongst other things they will be selling second-hand english language books, may also be operating a book exchange scheme, So if, like me, you are an avid reader this should be the source of reasonably priced reading material and hopefully a way to recycle all your old unwanted books. You could also combine your trip to Torchiarolo with lunch at Gio-Stefs (Cucina Casareccia), our favourite place for lunch.
Um, that sounds interesting.!!

We have introduced a number of forum members to this great site over the last few years, with whom we now exchange books! Recently we even hosted a lunch to welcome some Australian Bookcrossers here on holiday.
Very happy to explain more about how it works to any interested parties.

Which is fine if you want to mail books back and forth and wait for them! I like the idea of being able to go into a local shop and find a range of english books and make my selection .... instantaneous gratification

Completely understand your feelings! Can never resist bookshops, however it is very rewarding to be able to share books you will never read again with others.
Bookcrossing provides a great way of meeting others with interest in the same books and sharing reviews etc while watching your books travel the world.
It certainly does not appeal to everyone though but for us has been a great source of reading material and we have made new friends from all over the world.

During my last trip to Bagni di Lucca I noticed that there was a new shop which had opened and it was selling English books and they also offer Internet services. Some of the sites about the town and its shopping facilities said that there wasn't an English bookshop so somebody thought that it was a good idea after all. I wish them the best of luck.

There is a bookshop in the Carrefour complex just outside Brindisi (on the Taranto road), that sells english books. But they are very expensive. It's cheaper to get Amazon to send them to us, but a supply of second-hand novels is definitely a useful thing to us. I've already been into the Torchiarolo shop and bought a couple of books .... and will be returning for more.
Thank you that sounds great. We are in Lecce so not a million miles away. I have loads of English books and never know what to do with the ones I don't really want to keep, plus I am always after more so I will definitely visit and lunch sounds interesting too - thanks! could you let me know name of shop and when it's opening?
