Italian couriers are normally pretty c##p at deliveries, and the posta generally takes 6/8 days to deliver from the yUK....so your prawn sandwich would be eaten or off by the time you got it .

Hey Ricky I have written to Customer Services to express my dismay and I have suggested they contact you!!! Is that okay???

I have used British Corner Shop a few times for Christmas 'goodies' and different gifts for Italian friends. Their parcels are trackable and arrive safely. This time I combined my order with that of two friends so splitting the £15-99 postage for up to 30kg. At little over €6.33 each for 10kg it works out pretty good. The current parcel we ordered last Monday (18th), tracking showed me it was ready for delivery early this morning (22nd) so I presume it will be delivered on Monday - one week... not bad at all.
I have no pretentions about shopping at Marks and Sparks for their food.... don't know quite why people rave over it ? Or at other highly priced emporiums - like those in Piazza Duomo,La Galleria, Corso Buenos Aires, Monte Napoleone etc. - for that matter. It seems to me it's done to be 'fashionable' and 'one cut above' others. If I'm going to boast about what I put on MY table, then it will be because:
a. I've made it myself
b. It's value for money
c. I know what's in it!
d. It's 'stuff' I like!
Christmas shouldn't be a game of 'one-upmanship', but alas it so often descends to that level these days. Thank goodness that here on 'IM' that is not (generally) the case, and that the genuine Christmas feeling of goodwill is still alive and well!

What can be nicer than a simple wreath like this, that you've made yourself?

I'm not at all interested in M&S food, but I do like their clothes, particularly the menswear in tall sizes which more or less fits me.
Since I'm running out of socks, I happened to check M&S yesterday to see if they were shipping to Europe and I noticed with little surprise that Italy is not on their list. I assume the main reason is the same as the one explaining why some Ebay sellers have a policy of not accepting bids from people resident in Italy: major hassles with delivery and the inability to track parcels sent via ordinary post.

Carole on the whole things in M&S are well made albeit mostly in China nowadays and for that reason I boycott goods if they are. It's rather sad that they stock less leather shoes, no leather gloves much to my dismay and sun glasses made in Italy.
I don't rave as such over it as such nor do I feel one upmanship if I have bought a pair of tights there.
I've written to Customer Services to ask why not Italy and they should respond within 24 hours.

That's very generous of M+S to deliever to mainland Europe after closing down all their stores in France, Belgium and Germany.
Having made all their loyal staff redundant the then general director gave himself a nice juicy bonus for his good work.
I loved the cloths and the nosh and still always stock up on knicks and socks when I am back in the UK.

To part quote a post the easy way - select your text - copy and paste as usual and then type
at the beginning of the copied text. Then add
at the end of the text BUT remove the space between "quote" and final bracket. I cant do it here as it will "quote" what Im trying to explain.

But surely you, with your frequent journeys here and back, would never need this service Sally? I use it, together with some friends now, because even though my fairly frequent visitors do bring me a selection of 'goodies' - I don't ask for anything that is heavy due to the crippling weight limits enforced now by the budget airlines. I can't imagine that a case that was 30kg overweight on Ryanair would only cost £15.99 (€18.95), can you?

You're quite right there Sal, but I have no way of knowing your future or personal plans - nor should I need to for that matter... No one has to explain their motives to me, but it just seemed strange to me that - seasoned traveller that you are - you would need such a service. You obviously do, so I'll just leave it at that!
There is an alternative method Juliancol.
Just click the green quote button as normal, then either delete the parts that you don't need word by word, or if you intend to remove large parts of the quote that you're using, simply highlight the bits that you don't need using the mouse and then hit the space bar... job done.
Thanks for that Oneto - I know about the "normal" way - but it seemed some were maybe having a problem with their quote button recently and I just thought it may help to give an alternative option. I think what most people miss out is the slash in the last quote bracket - like this ~> [/quote]
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
I only really use the quote facility for when someone may edit, change or delete what they wrote or if my post only relates to the specific quote. I have employed my ignore button now, so I don't expect I’ll need to use quotes but thanks to all for the advice anyway.

I have sent my "protest email" to M&S and would suggest that anyone who is serious about buying from them and wanting delivery to Italy does the same. Surely M&S and UPS can come to an arrangement? M&S now only provides us with underwear when someone goes to London. A great many British firms will deliver lovely, reasonably priced clothes to Umbria including my current favourite Poetry - Welcome
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Goodness me what prices!, take a trip down here, silk cashmere/wool, lovely family run outlet in Servigliano, and handbags for a quarter of the price from the local markets, i agree the clothes look lovely, but I bought a wool and cashmere coat here for just over 100e, perhaps we can arrange a shopping trip?

Well M&S replied promptly but nothing new was said....QUOTE I am sorry that we are not delivering to Italy at present. This is a very new service for us and the decision was made to roll it out slowly. If this service is successful it will be expanded but at present we don't have any further news.

Well in truth can you think of anything that M&S supplies that John Lewis does not (apart from Food?). I doubt their marketing boss can translate PER UNA!
There are now so very many companies competing for business and almost all the ones I favour will deliver to Italy.....here's another we use Wool Overs - Classic Knitwear: Gilet, Jumpers, Gilets, Sweaters, Cardigans, Cashmere, Lambswool, Wool and Cotton knitwear Italian country gentlemen love their heavy jumpers with patches on sleeves and shoulder.
