11134 Prices in Sardinia

:veryconfused:Hi we are in the middle of completing on a property in Sardinia which has been fraught with issues throughout and a very long story. We keep seeing reports of the italian property prices now dropping and am wondering if anyone has any information on how things are faring in the coastal towns of the Nuoro region? or is sardinia largely unaffected? Does anyone know what they are expecting as the longer term outlook?

Any advice is greatfully received

You seem to have two queries (doubts) here. Firstly, your deal has been 'fraught with issues' - which would incline me to walk away from it. But, maybe you are too deep into the deal!

So - Sardinia in general, and price falls. Sardinia (IMO) has not experienced a huge irrational real estate price increase (nor has most of Italy, which does not mean Sardinia or Italy are poised for real estate inflation - that isn't going to happen). However, Sardinia, (one could argue), is better positioned in a grim market than almost any other region of Italy. There are more 'affordable' flights into Sardinia (also into Sicily) in 2009 than ever before.
With a longer time view, and if you have fallen in love with a Sardinian property - stick with your choice. But if it is a dodgy deal - just walk away (even if you take a loss) - sometimes it is better to cut your losses!

Thanks Charles, do you know if there us a source for price information in the same way we have the Nationwide indices published?
