Same here Nielo, just tried it. Perhaps we are doing something wrong??
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Possibly, but we could always try ' soldi non disponibile '!:laughs:

Odd - that's what it said for my commune up until last week - perhaps they have some efficient Italian way of collecting the data!
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Same here....let's hope the details turn up on the site soon. ICI is due by 16 June (dates in June and December were brought forward last year).

Our details are there, thanks very much.

Perhaps it's just the search that isn't working correctly. Our commune didn't come up either to begin with; however, when I just selected the Province and searched without inputting the comune, it showed them all - including ours.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Doesn't show ours even from the Province, but it only shows 3 commune so maybe the rest are to be added yet. Anyone know when the rifuti, or tarsu (I think they are both the same tax) is due?
For those who haven't worked out their ICI for this year [I'm paying mine in early June when I go over], the easiest way to find out what the rates for your commune are is to go to
Aiquote ICI
Just select your Province using the drop down list on the upper left of the page, then type in your Commune below. Hit 'inizia ricerca' and you should get this years rate come up as a table.
You can compare this rate to last year's by hitting "Aliquote I.C.I. anni precedenti ", just above the table.
If the rate is unchanged [mine is, but the 'prima casa' rate for my commune has dropped] you can just pay the same as last year
Hope this helps.

Now that Berlusconi's government has abolished ICI on "prime case", does anyone know what is classed as "luxury houses", and are all villas excluded from the new regulations?
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
rosie
pigro has asked a similar question.... recentley and there is info contained in the thread see below.... i posted a link in i think posting number 7...in that thread which takes you to a fiscal link to do with how properties are rated... you will have to see what your house is in terms of classification ... you should have this already it will be A... then a number ...

I popped into the local comune to check if I had to pay ICI 2008 and was told that a prima casa for a resident di not have to pay unless it was categoria A/1, A/8, A/9 or curioulsly if I had a garage. Good thing I don't have a garage. I pay my refuse tax in Casentino, Tuscany at the end of September, I don't know if Puglia is any different ( answer for the question put by resident in Puglia) I just hope they don't decide to put up the refuse tax to make up for the reduction of the ICI tax!!!!
Rosietat

just to clarify your statement as regards garages... this is for a separate garage that is not part of your main residence... ie if in town a you might well have bought a garage separately to house your car...or whatever.... a house with its own garage attached or not within the main residence is not going to effect ICI payment... and in fact there is some debate still if there will be any ICI to pay on these sorts of utilitarian buildings anyway...
also anyone who jumped the gun and has already paid ICI for 2008 will be entitled to get it back... prima casa that is
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Ours didn't come up either, even under the province, but by going on to the local Comiune site we managed to find this years rate, which are actually the same as last year.

Our refuse tax bill arrives at the end of September in Tuscany, and can be paid in installments.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
thanks to all on this thread - I was told no ICI this year for Prima Casa and unsure if this correct so now I know, now where is that TARSU bill?

Can anyone explain, in simple English, how ICI is calculated?
On what is it based? I am completely nonplussed!
Thanks

Don't forget that if it is your prima casa, there is no ICI to pay. Berlusconi abolished it.

many thanks - really helpful!
Another question: Is there anything to be gained by becoming a resident in Italy? I spent about 4-5 months of the year there, but I work in the UK.

I look forward to other (MUCH!) more knowledgable members contributions................but,
Tax on the purchase of your house, reduced Vat on Gas & Electricity, it depends on personal circumstances, but I have seen some benefits (above), but no downsides (gulp !!)
Watch this space I say !!:wideeyed:
Non Resdents still have to pay ICI

We are resident and have a big house and a small house. We still have to pay ICI on the smaller house.
If you do not have Residenza in Italy you must still pay ICI on any house/houses you own here by the 19th of June and December.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Whilst on the subject of the now-abolished ICI - is there still a requirement to complete any kind of form or do you blunder on aimlessly into next year and await the fine for not declaring what you don't have to pay ;)
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
In June I got a paying in slip in the post but when I checked with my accountant, he said do nothing and ignore it.

I have just received an astonishing email from English friends who are permanently resident in Umbria, which throws some of the advice given here right out of the window!
QUOTE: Our new Commercialista has just informed us that our property is classified A8 and so we still have to pay ICI after all – what a bad surprise! She says that it is because we live in a big house with a pool. Garage may also have something to do with it too.
Those in a large house with pool had better check with their Comune perhaps?
Thanks Alan, a very useful site, unfortunately my comune comes up as
Comune non disponibile :laughs:
