They also mentioned the expansion of the Perugia/St Egidio airport terminal, from its present 1,000mq to 4,000mq; people passing through may have seen the model for the new building.[/QUOTE]
Hi
Thanks for info re airport we will look out for this when we arrive next week, maybe it will open the airport for other airlines, Ryanair need some competition, may sharpen their customer service and improve the website and booking problems.
Totaly agree on your comments E45.
Look forward to seeing the sun again, it is a very rare sight in UK this year.
Regards Lin

Actually they have been saying that the E45 is to be upgraded, for years.......don't want to think of the hellish period of disruption should it ever actually happen.
As you can now fly Ryanair Perugia - Barcelona, a couple who met on this flight, Italian/Spanish and fell in love!! say that it has meant that young ambitious Perugini are seeking work in Barcelona where salaries are double and the cost of living the same. Ryanair done good?

We were on this today between Perugia/Todi and commented it was one of the most badly maintained stretches of Italian road that we've encountered in a long time. There's certainly ample room to widen it on either side.

The tunnel to Ascoli took about 25 years so don't hold your breath!

I drive the E45 a lot, and sorry, Violetta - the part you used is one of the best (and most recently) maintained bits of the E45!
I suppose, to forgive it, at least from Citta di Castello south to Terni, or maybe even to Orte, it is built on very poor ground (it follows the flood plain of the Tiber).
And the excuse for the section north from Citta di Castello to Cesena is probably the signficant altitudes reached (many snow ploughs destroying the roadsurface) and some overambitious viaducts.
I love it when it is clear of traffic and you can 'take a line' on the sweepng curves to avoid the potholes
That sounds some expansion Marc. Are they predicting then a big increase in passengers and/or routes using the airport??? When do they expect the new terminal to open or are they doing it gradually already???
