11494 More help please

I'm back in Italy the week after next and i'm looking for a drop leaf table that can sit up to a maximum of six people. I want it to be a reasonable quality and ideally I want to match some decent chairs with it. I've looked at Ikea, Mondo Convenienza and Per Sempre but none of them come up with the goods. Per Sempre have two different tables but they have stacking chairs that don't float my boat. If you know of anywhere in the Marsciano, Todi, Perugia area I'd be grateful for the details.

I know that Ikea have a gate leg pine type table which costs around €200 which would easily fit up to six or more people. I am planning to buy it on my next visit there and also they have fold up chairs for about €10 which will go very well with it. I have looked everywhere and think that it is the best available and very good quality.

What about combining the table you already like with chairs from another provider? Sometimes it works and you can find interesting matches. And also, in that way, you avoid the total IKEA, MC or PS "look" and it has more personality. Just an idea......

I think that the table is the most difficult piece to choose. There are plenty of chairs that will match or missmatch.... which is also an interesting option. Good luck!

At this time of year many of the 'proper' furniture stores have sales on. You might like to try Mobili Paolo (on the road between Corciano and Magione), also on the same road Emmelunga (an IKEA clone), and Mercato fa Marina (sometimes have very interesting items), or Beccari mobili who will certainly be 'on sale'. Mobili Cosci, just round the corner from Beccari towards Chiusi, might appeal too, with more traditional 'repro' stuff.
On the SS220 into Perugia there is Mobili Abati if you are interested in high end (and high price), plus Barlozzini at Montegabbione if Abati is too inexpensive!!
At Izzalini there is an emporium of 'antique' furniture, often at good prices, and loads of choice.

There is a small shop in Ellera just outside Perugia that makes tables and chairs to order. The prices are fair and the quality exceptional as we have just ordered a table and 6 chairs for our new home near Todi and we collect in when we return in March. the staff were v. friendly and helpful and they have a range covering all wood types and styles and even wash-painted wood.
