Sally, some of the Groups are an extension of the Sub-Forums, a place where you go whenever you have a question or a comment on a particular related topic and you do not think it is worthwhile to open up a thread. Other Groups may cover areas of interest which are not covered through the Sub-Forums. I don't see any problem expanding the member's interaction. On the contrary.
And why two only? Which ones should they be?....
I belong to several groups, I created one and I enjoy them all.

I think what Sally suggesting is that you can belong to as many Groups as you like - but only Moderate two of them
Personally [as I never use it], I'd prefer that the 'Ignore' button was removed from Moderators, [and possibly from the website]
.

Bravo alan h!
Yes, yes, yes.... get rid of the 'ignore button'. I find it to be one of the most offensive 'tools' available on sites/forums like this. If it's too hot in the kitchen, or the company is not to your taste then the choices are there for everyone...
1. Put up with it.
2. Learn to how to live among others.
2. Grow up.
3. Leave.
Not so hard really is it.... basically 'Put up or.....' !
Yeah... and while I'm on this rant (in for a penny, in for a pound) - might as well get rid of that b***dy 'Grazie' button too... What a stupid, misused farce that turned out to be.... .
The way it is so often currently used is a complete mockery. The way it was briefly (mis-)used recently was a travesty.
Instead of which we now have a situation where what should be a genuine 'thank you' for some information that has been offered by one member to others, we have ended up with what appears to be little more than a 'fan club' where, if you're on the 'A List', you'll get a 'Grazie' irrespective of what drivel you may have posted.. or you see a "Grazie" for information posted on a subject that is clearly of no interest whatsoever to the 'Thanker'! (and please, don't say that quickly....)!
Right - 'rant' over. I've said my piece - I'm off!
Edited to add: I really am a miserable bu@@er at times aren't I!
Everything in moderation........

Pointless Button

where is the pointless button? :laughs:

Hi
My pennyworth ,,, when I hit the grazie button it is usually to agree with someone and reinforce their view (not to thank them for making it) because we have no other facility for this.
Thank you is quite different - thanking implies receiving something.

You are missing one reason Carole and others, putting someone on your Ignore List prevents reading some very nasty repetitious remarks suddenly leveled at you. Not everyone has your bravado, alas.
Leave??? Well yes you could of course, but there are many good, kind, intelligent people here too.

In praise of the Ignore button.
I spent some time on an ignore list, I did not complain, it was bliss!
I have employed my ignore button because there are posters here, who’s only motivation to post is to irritate, disagree with me (regardless of what I say) or to pick holes in my spelling, grammar or syntax. None of it is useful to the forum and should I read such ignorant posts and be baited into a response it does no one any good.
There have been some really nasty things said and I don’t go running to teacher all the time, nor do I have the self control not to swipe back, so I use the ignore button in the interests of peace and for the benefit of the forum as a whole.

Yes, as I've indicated before, I question the groups idea altogether, since I feel it dilutes the main forum.
I'd do without the ignore button (don't even know where it is.)
Don't see the need for the chat room.
Can do without the Grazie button (but here's one anyway)
Now, about that pointless button.........

How about a poll then??? - http://www.italymag.co.uk/forums/italy-magazine-forums-announcements-queries/11497-forum-features-poll.html

I believe that the "grazie" button is helpful. I know that perhaps I use it on the generous side, but I do like to encourage people, reinforce an opinion as Aretina said and it also saves time as you do not have to write a full answer.
As for the "ignore" button, if I see something that I am an not particularly interested in or I do not wish to debate.... I just move on to the next post. It works without altering your blood pressure.....
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Gala there is no "Ignore" button as such. 'Ignore Lists" - yes These can only be accessed through your Control Panel.
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Sorry, Sally, I meant the Ignore Lists in the Control Panel....

Sal, you kindly posted this new poll to sound out what members would prefer, but what should I do/how should I vote if I think only ONE facility should be offered (or retained)?
Polls - unless very carefully formulated - can rarely provide a true view of what a group would like or not. If not worded carefully, with a balanced opportunity to select specific points, then they are little more than a waste of time.
Would it not be better to allow this thread to run it's course and then look at the general feelings expressed on the various points like groups, ignore, prefer, grazie etc. etc.?
Or perhaps give a KEEP - DON'T KEEP or START option against each item.

Eh click one of the first four options. Alas you cannot tick more than one.
As for the letting this thread run its course and not have a poll. Easy and quick for Admin to pick up the mood with a poll I feel.
A reasonable balance??!?!?! Heavens Sal, have you looked at *any* social networking websites?
Personally I have more than two interests.......sorry if that doesn't fit you pre-packaged view of life; I'm not two dimensional y'know!
