What you get in one Wimpy is the same as you get in another Wimpy the world over.

I'm a fan of the Uk show (like you:bigergrin:), but can you tellus anything about the 3 judges, they look "dodgy".

Oh, the shame - the shame!

The Judges - don't know very much about them, but the younger woman is Simona Ventura and has been a RAI hostess for quite a while. The older woman is Mara Maionchi (sp?) and is a record producer. I think she worked with Lucio Battisti in the 70's. The guy is Marco Castoldi, but he's known as "Morgan" - he's a (crap) Singer/Bass player and was with a band called Bluvertigo a few years ago.

I love X factor in the UK - and I watched last year here - there is a lot of talent out there (crappy auditions aside!). The group who won last year, Aram Quartet were amazing but sadly haven't done anything since. What I hate about it most though is that after all the chat, the first singer is literally coming on now (9.30) - it goes on until so late, I can't do it! The UK format is much better, short and sweet - but that doesn't fit in with Italian TV!
judges - Simona Ventura, as juliancoll said, is a presenter and has no real music experience. Mara Maionchi has lots of experience, Morgan is the one with the real musical knowledge though. Completely mad and eccentric but he does know what he's talking about.

I didn't watch The X-Factor. However I wonder if anyone saw "America's Got Talent" last year on ITV 2. It actually took place in 2007. Week after week I for one marveled at the talent of a performer called Butterscotch, a 21 year Californian girl who "beat boxes"

Alas she came third in the final, undeservedly so.

She's currently working on her first album.

It wasn't "trolling" Marc - it was downright rude.

It would have been trolling if I had posted with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion

The post that caused my emotional response was trolling so I am the victim here.

Cover your eyes folks. (don't worry)

I happened to switch channels and see Seal performing, which was acceptable, but when I realised what the programme was, I went elsewhere very quickly. I refuse to watch any "talent" show, because if the contestants had any talent, they'd be making a career for themselves, not appearing on cheap, tacky television. :winki:

That's a bit unfair Steve. You know how difficult the music scene is to break into - even if you are the most talented. Sometimes those who have a dream (and talent) find that shows like this may be the only chance they have of being signed or noticed.

I know a couple of extremely talented people who, had they not had "that lucky break" would not be where they are now. They had struggled to get a deal for many years and it was only because someone, somewhere heard a demo that had been left in their friends car that they got a contract and went on to become famous and appreciated by millions of people for the past fifteen years.

These type of shows can and do launch careers that last for many years. I know we all like to laugh at the "failures and jokers" but when someone with real talent gets through - we all benefit.

It took almost 30 seconds for me to realise what she was singing!

But the winners of TV talent shows are always second-rate talents whose brief careers are purely the result of extensive television publicity combined with competent but vacuous music written by embittered, anonymous professionals. :winki:

No major creative artist in any genre has emerged from the talent show business and none ever will. It's very cheap and profitable television though.

I'm still not sure.

Was the mention of Amy Winehouse a clue?

Al

In a second,Britain Needs You" - the final - to choose the UK entry for Eurovision this year.. Andrew Lloyd Weber is the composer of the UK entry specially written. Jade is quite talented and a stunner, Mark nothing special and as for The Twins ..... dreadful in my opinion. Bet The Twins win though.

Steve - do you consider Leona Lewis a second rate talent then????

Katier if you like Leona Lewis you will also like Jade. There will be a link to Jade on youtube eventually.

Sally, the title of this thread is Icks Factor not the Turtle show. Please adhere to the on topic rules or you may get your bum smacked and no one really wants to see that. :nah:
I wont report you - this time. :wideeyed:

Moving on - I love her shoes!

Jade has Italian blood!!! Yeh!!! From the BBC website - "Jade trivia - Jade's Dad, Trevor, is part-Sicilian; he was born without sight in either of his eyes. Her mother is partially-sighted"

Here too is another link, this time to all her performances in the contest.

Sally, I'm sure if you trace your roots back far enough - perhaps to Neanderthal times - you too may be lucky enough to find some Italian blood in you.
