2500 Improvements to S Egidio?

I think it was reading the February 2005 edition of Italy that a paragraph grabbed my attention. It said that plans were afoot to expand the runway at Perugia's S Egidio airport so that it could accommodate larger planes from further afield than Rome or Milan, as is currently the case. The article also said that Ryanair would be starting a new service from London to Perugia as of November last year - sadly for those of us looking for more convenient access to this particularly attractive region of the bel paese, the works to Perugia airport do not yet seem to have been completed...

Does anyone have any further insights into the state of progress regarding the proposed expansion to S Egidio? Is the expansion nearing a conclusion?Have the works started?!
