11959 Bless their thieving socks

I'm guessing everyone in the tourism buinsess gets their fair share of scam emails. This one is our latest - they always make me chuckle. This one is a bit lame - normally they have some extra content like "nuns" or "christian delgates" wanting to stay in my city/county/country/planet. :laughs:

Anyway, we're full for that period so if anyone wants to pick up the enquiry just pm me. Failing that, let's have a laugh by sharing scammails on this thread.

Are you certain this is a scam? The institute is real and is reputable Agharkar Research Institute and three of the staff mentioned appear on its Contacts page. But I agree the request seems odd, as I do not understand what research these biostatisticians would be doing in Lunigiana.

If you have other evidence that it is a scam, you might wish to contact Dr Rao at srao@aripune.org to tell him that his name is being taken in vain. His reply could be interesting!

As an aside....so I'll be quick.....
The one to beware of if you use eBay, is an email supposedly from them saying you have bought XYZ? It is VERY convincing indeed and could easily fool you into giving away confidential info regarding your bank/Visa/Paypal details.
The scam email that I wish wasn't ...was the one I received this week supposedly from Inland Revenue, saying I had a refund due to me.

Hahaha …Inland Revenue…refund!

Totally unbelievable scam! Did it have a Nigerian address?:laughs:

I deleted it Nielo but it was a good forgery!

I got the following a while back... a definite scam. I humoured him just to make sure... basically what they do is send you the money for the accommodation plus a little extra for flights which you are supposed to send to their "travel agent". If you do this you then found out their original payment has disappeared from your bank account and you are out of pocket with the so-called flights money. There are hundreds of variations I've seen in my years in the industry. Please always report these guys to the authorities... what they do is a crime and immoral

Your fraudsters are getting slipshod. While the hospital exists, there is apparently no Arun Kumar on the books:
