12007 HELP - Stranded sink in Sassari, Sardinia

OK, this *is* a queer request........we have some friends with a particularly distressing "middle-class hell" problem.

They have purchased an obscenely expensive bathroom sink from Italy for their UK home. It seems that the Italian supplier has gone (or is going) out of business & their sink is stranded in a warehouse in Sassari, Sardinia. The firm have no credit at couriers & the receivers are looming, meaning that their sink is at risk of becoming hostage or just lost. As I say, middle-class hell!
:eerr:

So, can anyone help with recommending a courier service who can take it to a local storage facility, can ship to the UK or just plain help get it out of the "doomed" warehouse?

Hi Tuscan

I have pmd you ..........cheers

Like others, I'm sure, I was tempted momentarily to chuckle at their unfortunate predicament for it does - at the outset - sound so terribly second-home British. But then I thought about my own beautiful bathroom here in Tuscany and my own hand basin, which was actually made in England but purchased from a very swish supplier in Italy so seriously overpriced but nonetheless ever so nice. I think we care about our bathrooms almost as much as we care about our kitchens, don't we?
Really hope your friends' sink is recovered safely.

Well, I had to chuckle; not through any schadenfreude, but for the 'middle-class hell' comment and the fact that in my rented flat the patina has completely gone on the bath and is thus impossible to clean properly.

But it's never nice to lose money through no fault of your own...
