When we put an offer on our house, we were informed that it had mains water, It then transpired that it did not. The agent suggested that the pervious owners said 1/2 and we paid 1/2 of the cost to connect. He was holding onto the money for this work. We were going to use his architect (but she was no good), so we got another and had all the works organised by him. I have been trying to get the money that the agent is hlding for 2 1/2 years now...... He is being evasive and not at all forth coming!!!
It sounds like you need to

We had a lawyer write to him. Then the lawyer said we have to pay €1.000 euro to escalate this to I assume small claims court. I dont want to lose anymore money, but if anyone else has had any similar experiances with this con artist, maybe we could sue him together.
What have you got as a paper

What have you got as a paper trail? An estateagent is not a property manager or a project manager, so I could legitimately ask why he had the money in the first place. Im not defending him, and Im sure he does owe you the money, but before it gets expensive the facts need to be clear. Presumably you gave him th money and got a receipt or something that says what the money was for? Was the money purely for the actual water connection or did the sum include professinal fees and permissions? Most importantly what has the estate agent said to you? I see that he is a member of FIAIP. FIAIP has very strict rules and codes of practise. If you feel aggrieved you should write to FIIAP and state your case - they can throw him out. Presumably you bought via this agency?
