83 Matteo Sereni

Is Matteo Sereni still playing in goal for Lazio, its just that we are expecting to see him & his Lazio counterparts playing at Ipswich Town in a friendly this summer. This is part of the deal made when he first joined Lazio from Ipswich a couple of seasons back. indeed it was meant to have taken place last summer, but for various reasons was put off. Any info much appreciated.

Yup certainly started for them this weekend - tough with luck he will drop a few clangers and allow the illustrious Brescia some breathing space

Anyway ITFC are you coming to Elland Road next month ? It weill be a long long time before you get another oppertunity !!!!!

I'll probably be coming up next season bud!

After last nights debacle anyway!

Do you want an ex-baggie keeper too? One going cheap and quickly hopefully!

Mark if it happens PM me and we can meet up for a beer

Though i am hopingat least two of you can scramble out and be replaced by Palace and Blackburn

Ciao

Sounds good! Split the petrol on a drive up if you like!

Looks like our only hope is a couple of wins with 3 around us losing for the rest of the season - unlikely at best! Palace will go down, I think Southampton will escape and it'll be us, Palace and Norwich. Looks like Blackburn are out of danger now.

Chairmans making the right noises about no-one having any 'escape' clauses and we've got plenty of money so we dont need to sell anyone, so we should be very strong next year and be looking to bounce back up as Champs - ready for a proper Premiership season.

Doing it the Charlton way...(it'll do for me!)

unfortunately i dont get to any away games.i'm a season ticket holder at Portman Rd, & see a rather unfortunate LUFC go away empty handed, they deserved a draw possibly. Don't ask what happened with Watford last night, they scored twice from 3 shots on goal, whereas we missed the target umpteen times. it would be nice to be back in the top flight but we'd come straight back down. Hows our old mate "Jamma" getting on? still drifting in & out of games whilst showing rare moments of skill. when hes on form he can be a fine player, but sadly for him he seldom impressed at ITFC, barring his last season that is.
Back to the Italian theme however, how are Brescia doing this season? sadly i'm not very up on "il calcio in italia". but i hope they are doing well.

Yup that about sums Jamma up - Even Gregan now outshines him

Best not to mention Brescia - Last season I suffered the pain of watching by beloved Whites relegated - this year it is looking like i will see Brescia also slip out of the top flight.

The only difference between the two is that Leeds went down with a multi million pounbd side that should have competed in Champions league but did not perform - Brescia Have sold every piece of talent in the squad, and as every season invested nothing back leaving the manager to pick up the pieces

In short one side overstretched and blew out the other has shown no ambition to stay in top fight and are slikley to slide out

O happy days

Sorry to double post - but just picked this and thought it may interest ITFC

Sereni slams Lazio proposal Wednesday 23 February, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matteo Sereni has sent out a stark warning to financially troubled Lazio that he will not accept a contract renegotiation.

“I have a contract until 2007 and I want it to be honoured. I won’t be moved on this issue,” warned the goalkeeper.

President Claudio Lotito saved the side from the brink of bankruptcy and did so by spreading wages over more years than had originally been agreed, a deal which many top stars accepted.

However, Sereni has made it clear this isn’t the only issue that he will stand firm on as we approach the transfer window.

“I think that the club intends to choose between myself and Angelo Peruzzi for next season. As director of sport Gabriele Martino said, Lazio cannot afford to have two first choice ‘keepers on its books.”

Veteran Peruzzi is the most likely to leave, especially as he will be a free agent in the summer, but Sereni has only really played in the current campaign when his colleague has been injured.

“I have an excellent rapport with Angelo,” assured the ex-Ipswich Town shot-stopper. “But I want to play football and sitting quietly on the bench is not in my nature. The team has to feel secure in the knowledge that there is a Number 1 goalkeeper and currently they don’t have that consistency.”

Parma-born Sereni is again set to start against his hometown club this weekend as Lazio look to climb into mid-table safety.

my old mate is getting upset again is he, now why doesnt that surprise me. whilst at ITFC he complained of feeling tired due to the effects of to many games being played, he was rested for a game or two, then started complaining when he couldnt force his way back into the 1st team ( mind you i still cant believe that Andy Marshall, ex budgie, could ever keep a player of his stature on the bench).after this Sereni was bound to be off, especially on his wages. he sulked & went AWOL back to Italy a couple of times, a great shame because he was popular with the fans, but you could see he longed to be away from Ipswich, if this friendly with Lazio ever takes place i hope he gets a good reception from the fans. thats if he is still at Lazio by then!!!!!!!
