101 Northern Italy

I am planning on visiting North Italy somewhere between Bergamo and the Lakes, can anyone recommend a largish town etc

Also does anyone know how to find out if your qualifications experience are worth anything ie gas man or whether would not be able to work in this field without italian qualifications etc. I have contacted City and Guilds but they could not help.

UK NARIC (National Academic Recognition Information Centre) used to be part of the British Council, I believe, and equated overseas qualifications to UK qualifications. Part of my job was to advise UK university applications from overseas whether the qualifications they held would be acceptable in the UK. NARIC's website is [url]www.naric.org.uk[/url].

For visiting Northern Italy it depends what you're looking to get out of your visit. Bergamo itself is very central and has cheap flights to it via Ryan Air, though Bergamo Bassa is very industrial like many of the towns on the plain, Bergamo Alta has a lot more going for it in terms of atmosphere and architecture. I recommend avoiding Brescia, though its castle is pleasant enough.

Which lakes were you thinking of? Lake Garda, Maggiore, Iseo, Como? There's a lot to choose from... :)
