caio robur
we stayed just outside cicsternino last year, its a lovely little town, we travelled with long travel and stayed in atrullo about 5 min drive away, from our experience there are plenty of good restraunts around, its a lot easier if you have your own transport, especially to get to the beaches, they are better towards brindisi near to ostuni marina. alberobello is another nice day out, but beware there are lots and lots of bus tours so it gets very busy especially around lunchtime, although a bit touristy with plenty of souvenier shops, there are still some very good places to eat. i dont know specificlly what you like to do, but we have young ones so atrip to the safari park at fasano is usually a must.
are you flying in to bari? or brindisi? are you self catering, if so there is a huge auchan at casamassima which is on the way through to cicsternino from bari. if there are any specifics you want to know then please ask, ps lecce is a must visit beautiful city they call it the florence of the south, ciao marco

Like you we are staying in a trullo just outside Cisternino and have booked through Long Travel !!!. We have also booked a car in with our holiday so we are looking to get out and about as well as just relaxing at our trullo. Very pleased with Long Travel in our dealings with them, they seem keen to help and advise with anything and everything. Some info on the best beaches and also the best places to eat in Cisternino would be nice, please feel free to e-mail me if you wish. Oh and thanks for the Auchan tip as we do intend to do a little bit of cooking ourselves. Thanks again for your advice Marco.

I'd be really interested to hear how you get on Robur. I'm (hopefully) going to Lecce for part of the second year of my PhD and would love to hear what anyone knows about it.
Anyone know it ? What is it like to rent there?

Forza Cagliari! :D
ciao robur,
i have been travelling to puglia for the last 10 years or so and have mainly used the rough guide, we are going to puglia in june, for a week to hopefully finalise house purchase what area are you going to? and for the guide what are you interested in, if it is history and the like then you can pick up good guide books from italian book shops when you arrive, and yes they have them in english, but if you are on the move and want advise on things to do eat and stay then the rough guide or lonely planet guides are as good as any. ciao marco
