Mario, you're right, I MUST elaborate my response. The point is that I would be disappointed if my response would be taken as an unrequested advertising.
I run and organize food and wine lovers' tours in Le Marche. It's my job, it's what I'm passionate about. It took 2 years of hard job to find the best places, the best restaurants, the best houses, the best Hotel, the best products and the best people to arrange a real dreaming tour.
I think I wouldn't have to be ashamed of saying this, so I advertise myself in this response. If you really want a *real* food and wine holiday, with 3/4 cookery schools in one week, tasting all the 12 Doc wines of Le Marche, and having a fish cooking lesson at a fisherman's house (which is my house, my family, we're fishermen from 1700); if you really want it, please visit my website (www.angelorecchi.com), take a look at my tours, or simply (and better) send me an email, and I'm sure you will spend the best time ever in an unknown region as Le Marche.
This month, as you can read in the signature, my job and me are on Italy Magazine, page 62.
A presto, and hope to see you all here in Le Marche, for whatever reason!
Ciao
Angelo

Mario, just not to be misunderstood... my first response was not to your post, but to the first post.
I didn't mean to reply to you.
Ciao!
Angelo
. ...It was one of the best holidays we had ever taken....A couple of years ago, my wife and I celebrated our 20th anniversary in Italy. The first week we spent at La Chiusa, an agriturismo (B&B) country inn/farm set in an idyllic hillside location in Umbria near the southern border of Tuscany.
A typical day:...rise early to the sounds of roosters...light continental breakfast...and then off to wherever/whatever you wanted to do/see/hear/ smell...another words...it was "free time".
At 3:00pm, cooking lessons began in the kitchen of the restaurant. Every day we learned and helped make dishes, that was served to us and the restaurant guests....things like homemade pasta with different ragu's, various style meats, simple delicious desserts and oven baked breads...just to name a few!!!
...one day we went to the nearby market with the chef to buy the things we used for the daily supper....another day we went mushroom picking...
Holiday???...that is always a personal preference question!!! If you are a lover of Food and Wine.... weekend chef like us...and like "hands on" learning.... then a cooking school/holiday will be a memorable time.
Remember the cooking school was complimented with day trips to Assisi, Gubbio, Arrezo, Cortona....etc etc..
I was born in Italy but moved away as a youngster. I visit my family in Abruzzo quite often, so the cooking school re-enforced some things for me...but none the less you can never stop learning!!!
Ciao a tutti
Mario
