we have just exchanged sterling into euros through a company called currencies.co.uk we originally set up an account with a company called the money corp both were extremely efficient and the deciding factor for us was on the day we decided to exchange the money ,currencies .co.uk were more competative with the exchange rate. ciao marco

I've used [url]http://www.caxtonfx.com[/url] and xeTrade ([url]http://www.xe.com/fx)[/url].

I used caxton for my "biggie" - i.e. the initial movement of funds to Italy to purchase. The Guys at caxton are very helpful and their rates were pretty good. I wanted the comfort fator of a company where I could speak directly to a currency dealer, and Caxton are good for that, there are no secretaries or voicemail/IVR systems to get in the way.

Since then, I've used xeTrade for various smaller transfers (eg. £5K-£10K sterling).

I chose xeTrade because:

(a) once you've set up the account (they call you back a few days later to verify you are who you say you are) the whole process can be done on the web (i.e. you can get a real time price quote, place the trade, get an automated trade reference and then just transfer them Sterling via UK BACS - no need for CHAPS which is quicker but costs more). I like the privacy this affords me - so I don't need to call someone from my workplace and start discussing £10K trades etc.

(b) their rates are slightly better in general than the other fx bureaux I checked them against.

(c) They have no (or at least much smaller) minimum trade limit .. caxton was something like £6K while XETrade will let you transfer much smaller amounts

A friend of mine recentley purchased a ski apartment in Bulgaria, which by all accounts looks a cracking investment. He used a firm called Worldwide Currencies and was very impressed by the service and rate.
They had the Euros out to Varna the same day that he sent the sterling to them...almost unheard of!
