Hi, we are buying through Gabetti and find them very good. Much cheaper than some of the English introduced ones we came across....both property prices and fees. Good luck!

I can thoroughly recommend the Lake Orta area

[I sit on the balcony of my 'holiday home' and watch the sun go down behind the Alps. The Lakes Orta/Maggiore area is a beautiful area.
Most Estate agents speak a little English - but I'd suggest you set up a series of meetings with various agents in advance [we did 17 houses and 5 Estate Agents in a week a couple of years ago].
You need to be clear to them on what you want to spend [stick to your budget!] and what type of property you want.
The best service we got was with "Orta Project" -

They speak English and were very helpful - especially Claudio Fornara. We bought our house from them and Claudio helped us with all the paperwork, including setting up the bank account, direct debits for services, and translated at the Notary's when we signed the contract. He also found us a geometra for the house alterations we made.
Remember you pay the estate agent a fee for buying the house.
Good luck with the search.
