Apart from 2 visits to Italy as a young man, one very fleeting as I drove straight across the N. of Italy to Trieste and on to Yugoslavia, and the second down to Civitaveccia and across to Sicily and then Corsica, I had never been to Italy.
This year as an OAP I went as part of a group to the little town of Bellagio on the inverted Y fork of Lake Como. I was absolutely entranced. The scenery was majestic and I loved the warmth and attitude of the people I met. I feel I would like to live out my days on the shores of Lake Como. It will mean learning Italian from scratch after many, many years devoted to French.
Can anyone recommend a good book on the practicalities of living in Italy, buying a house, the tax system and so on?
Ivan.

There are so many books available I would suggest you go into any large good bookshop and pick one that suits your needs, but make sure it is a recently published one, so it is not out of date. Amazon have a good selection some of which are second hand, which maybe worth considering.
