745 holiday with my dog
Hi, I've recently been chatting ( see' travelling to abruzzo' thread )about how to get to italy with my dog, Manou. As you will see if you read the latter thread, I've been finding out all the options and now I'm plucking up courage to drive, on my own, with my weimaraner and go by ferry, for up to 4 weeks next year. I want to explore as one day, i want to live in italy but, presently I feel the need to to see more, to find the right place over the next couple of years. As part of a new life pattern, I'd like to visit italy regularly, driving there, finding spots where i can stay with my dog, do lots of walking in great countryside and sit and sip coffee too, with him laying in the shade by my feet, as I watch the world go by at a pavement cafe. So I'd like some help please, if anyone can suggest any place dog friendly and beautiful, small places/establishments, for me to stay on these extended trips which would accept a big dog like Manou.
As well as these excursions just for me and my dog, next May, I had an idea to meet up with my grown up family and stay in a villa for two of the weeks, but am finding it difficult to find a place to accept my well behaved and well trained ( like me)dog. I had somewhere, but then they said he was too big; they only accept 'lap dogs'. In fact I'm finding this to be the problem;in all the research I'm doing, 'pets accepted', means little weany ones, not a big chilled out dog like my Manou.
Does anyone know of a place to rent next may, which would be big enough to include my family too? I want to do a lot of walking with my dog, pool, 3 bedrooms, perhaps in le marche region- excellent hiking- that's the region where i currently feel i'd like to live. Any web addresses where it's easy to locate pet friendly establishments? I've tried long-travel, as I was thinking of Puglia or Amalfi, as i love the sea, but they have no properties at all that would accept a big dog like Manou.

may well be construed as an advert and edited out but will give a try.... we live in abruzzo the nothern part.... so close to the marche as well if that is your preference.... have just finished renovating a property next door to us... its on the first floor if you dog can handle the stairs....
apart from that we have a garden over the road he can run in... the village dogs are in general very friendly...our own dog gets a visit from one of them every morning.....
anyway you and your dog are very welcome to send a private message any time and will let you know prices and availability... its rural so you will need your car.... and the village is very very friendly ...
