1301 Roma; accomodation on a budget?

any suggestions for pleasant clean budget accomodation in Rome? Anyone found a good place? Is everything expensive beyond belief or are there some real gems around. I'm hoping to treat my elder son to a weekend for his birthday in February and have been shocked at the cost for 3 nights! Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, so I'd appreciate some other options to the hotels coming up on my searches or those in the brochures, who charge per person not per room; if anyone knows of any!-e.g. does b and b exist in rome?

Hi Jackie: I have a few friends in Rome who do B&B. However, they are not in the centre and I imagine if you are taking your son and only for 3 days you want to be as central as possible. Have a look at this site. Good luck

Here's a couple more B&B web sites that I have run across in my research. Like you, I am looking for inexpensive lodging and these fit the bill. Some are not centrally located, but many are near public transportation.

Thank you very much for the links. They look really useful!
