1306 New Member - Puglia

Hi

Just joined and can't believe the amazing amount of good info on this forum.

Currently living on the Costa del Sol but coming out to Puglia to buy in October to permanently re-locate.

Looking in the Brindisi/Carovigno area. In fact found a great web site carovigno.com with a live web cam showing the Piazza. Not many people about this morning - maybe everyone had a drop too much vino last night :)

I've been following the thread regarding buying a car in Italy and short term I'll probably bring my (Spanish) car. Any advice gratefully received.

Hi Susan,

Wow another for our fantastic area. We're just outside Caravignio and I'm off now to look at the web site you've mentioned.

Good luck with your purchase. When will you be over in October.

Take care and welcome

Paula

Hi Paula

We're coming over on the 5th October and have multiple viewings lined up as we definately want to re-locate to Puglia a.s.a.p.

I have lived in Italy before ... albeit some time ago.

The decision to move countries has not been an easy one - hovever, now that we've finally made a decision I'm very excited.

You've just got to look at cavogonio.com at the live web cam. Spooky, they're now two bench loads of people enjoying 'the evening air' ... I really should get a life. Afraid I'm just a nerd when it comes to web cam watching. Especially when it's somewhere I want to live.

How addictive is that site. I keep loggin on. Yes I know, sad, but I feel depressed every time I have a quite look. Switched on at 7 this morning and sun was already shinning, foggy here, and there was obviously a nice breeze by the way the palm tree was swaying. Pity there is no sound, would have been great to watch festivals.

Know just what you mean. I've already logged on a couple of times, more people about today than yesterday. Sad or what.

Hello Susan,

You've chosen an idyllic spot to pitch tent!! We've just bought just outside San Vito and can't wait to get back over on 7th October (even if only for a measly week!!) There are some lovely properties quite near us. If you can squeeze them in why not visit us?

Regards

Kath and Andy Thomson

Hi

Us too - we're completing on 30th September on two properties just south of Brindisi (one to live in, one to rent out). Can't leave UK until we sell our house here, but we have an offer so hopefully it won't take too long. Really can't wait to get there.

It's great to have found this site and all you other people who love Puglia too!

Ciao
Debbie

This is fabulous and there was I thinking I'd be the only person from Blighty, and theres a massive ex-Pat community on-line.

Hope you drink massives of red wine like we do and primotivo is a wonderful wine.

Ciao
Elaine

ps: the weather looks a little cloudy at the moment in Carovigno, I took pictures from the air of Puglia when I went to Kefalonia (my last trip to anywhere else when we complete) very exciting

It is addicting I've been watching this morning a lot. It is now 9:00 p.m. your time now, but I was watching at 5:30 p.m. your time and then again about 8:00 you can't stop watching. Like flipping to the forums on this website - addicting :D

I need someone who lives close by to plan a time when they are going there and then wave to the camera - I know stupid but at least we get to see who you are! That sounds so lame doesn't it, but you sort of understand what I'm saying :o

Peggy

I'm going over for two weeks from the 18th. Before I go I will set a time and a day when I'll go into the square and have walk round (sweetpeg, we'll have to work out the time difference then you don't miss me). You wont be able to miss me, I'll be like the Pied Pipper with my 4 kids. :p

Paula

Oh that will be great - I do have a computer and the internet at home, I could stay up late or wake up early either one. But I think that would be great. The way it sounds too, it's like I never do any work, here at work :o I do though!

I wonder if I looked like the Pied Pipper when I had my 2 stepsons and my 2 girls when they were younger and we would go places? Love the visual - maybe you should take a flute too then we really would know who you were!!!

Welcome to Susan also - I was rude and didn't say that on my other post. Too excited about that darn webcam!

Peggy ;)

I'll have a good think before I go about how you will be able to identify us, dont want to just stand there waving our arms about, could get carted off to the nut house  . I'll park myself on one of the benches under the palm tree and Millie could take her skipping rope and have a little skip, James could take his skateboart, Dom could kick a little ball around for a couple of min's and Lottie could carry her doll. Easy then. Have you checked out the radio station with the dj on a web cam also, spooky :p .

Hi Peggy, I don't think you could be rude if you tried hard :) Hi Paula.

We're in Puglia from the 5th to 13th October so will miss your live visit to the square ... we'd have joined in otherwise. We'll be waiting with baited breath for you to announce details and times of the 'grand performance' :D

'grand performance' - my oh my, can't wait, I'm going to have to learn jugling or something like that now. I can jugle two balls but thats my limit, but I will take a couple with me and have a go. Everybody in square will think a bunch of street perfomers have landed. What a shame your not there at the same time Susan, that would have been great.

Paula

Ha! Go for it Paula ;-)

With 4 kids, bet you can juggle more than 2 balls. That's what us Mum's are good at - juggling things around!

How many kids have you got Susan, and are they grown up now?

3 grown girls. Eldest married and living in Hong Kong :-( Middle one married with a 2 year old and a one year old ... just love them to bits ... living in London at present. Youngest one teaching English in South Korea :-(

Come to think of it ... my parents live in Tenerife ... and we're in Spain - Puglia here we come.

So we're sort of all over the place.

Someone once said (can't remember who) that the best thing you can give your kids is 'roots to grow and wings to fly'.

Certainly succeeded on the wings front - or maybe I'm just the Mother in Law from hell ; - )

Wow, you are spread thin, loved the quote by the way, wish ex husband and his mother would see it like that. Want to re-locate straight away but may have to wait.

Just checked the square and its dull as anything, nice and sunny here today (for a change).

It was lovely and sunny in the square first thing this morning - but yeh, unfortunately overcast now. Looks like you'll have to get your 'wellies' out for the performance in October at this rate ... only kidding! I'm sure that the sun will shine and everything will be well with the World.

And yes, we do seem to be a bit of a rambling family don't we. Must be the gypsy blood - we should fit right in with the Albanians when we relocate ;- ))

:D Paula we will think of something that you and the kids can do that we know it's you. I will think and give you some ideas. My daughters think I'm nuts and my oldest granddaughter who is 11 thinks I'm cool - so I know I'll be able to think of something that won't get you carted off :p

Yes to young to be a grandmother, but we all started young, but young enough to think of dance moves and do them with the grandkids - ha ha.

Okay I got to run I need to go pick up my husband at the window tinting place. He will get a little angry if I made him wait just so I could post a performance routine on Italy Magazine :D It's making me laugh out loud just thinking about it.

See you later - Peggy

Your as young as the man you feel, and mine's only 36 (I'm 40, and the last husband was even younger). Grandmother, hey I feel too young to be a mother at 40 and my youngest has just turned 2................ as for going into the square and making a prat of myself, hey, who cares, I love life, I love a laugh, and who the cares, I LOVE TO ENJOY MYSELF........................ :D life is tooooooooooo short...........

Paula - Okay I've been really watching the piazza and I'm thinking where at least to stand when in the square. If you were looking at the webcam there is a light post on our left. Then the benches are further back, well there seems to be a storm drain or something like that - you need to be right around the storm drain for a good view of you and the kids!!!! Routine to made up shortly. Need to do some work before I leave early today. Yahoo on leaving early. :D Yahoo on routine too!

Peggy
