I may be dreaming, but did someone not once report that you could get Italian programmes through the RAI or one of the other Italian tv stations websites?
Does anyone know if I can get any Italian channels in the UK via me Sky box (or any other way)?
The Italian channels are on a satellite called "Hot Bird". I have been watching Rai 1,2 and 3 for years until recently when they stopped transmitting in analogue. Rai and lots of other Italian stations can be picked up from Hot Bird using a digital sat and receiver. I know there are some sophisticated dishes which can be swivelled round from inside the house to point at different satellites as and when required. I don't know whether you could use your sky box and simply change the position of the dish. (Then you wouldn't be able to get sky of course!) Hope this is of some help.

yea you can, the sky dish is big enough to pick up the signal, however you have to position the dish in the right direction (need to buy a tool to do that £70) and you have to reset your digy box setting with the new frequency. Keep in mind that once you have changed the digy box setting and direction you wont be able to pick up any of the UK channels, an you will avoid the warranty.
your best bet is search on the web ..

Hi,
You might not get Italian programmes on Sky but you can watch Euro News on channel 528 in Italian as well - just change the language settings to Italian and you will get a simultaneous translation of what's being said. It's a great channel anyway for European news you'd otherwise never hear about. However, it can be a bit repetitive throughout the day...
Cheers,
Stephanie

Hi,
All Italians, or at lest most of them, watch Italian tv channels in Uk, via satellite.
It is not expensive prices range from £150.00 to £250.00 all inclusive.
I know somebody who does the installations, but any good satellite technician can give you the digibox, you can use the same dish and eye that Sky uses, gotta change the box though.

Not via the Sky box, but it is possible. A neighbour in the UK used to have a complicated arrangement with a satellite dish that moved to pick up Italian satellite channels. I think you need advice from the UK TV/satellite newsgroups, it means a new dish, new STB and possibly two LNBs to do what you are asking for.
