1384 new to the forum and just saying hello

Ciao,
Just thought I would take the time to introduce myself to the forum, with just being new. I am Gill, and i am relocating with my partner and two children to an area near to Brindisi.
Currently we are waiting for our house in the U.K. to complete, should be the next 4 weeks, and we shall be making our way to "bella italia". I would be grateful for any advice concerning areas, schooling, and generally some advice in aiding a smooth relocation.
We shall not have a house to move into straight away, but shall be travelling with a caravan, taking abit of a road trip and seeing some sites.

Hope to hear from some people soon

Gill

Gill welcome - I can't help you with advice on a move to Italy but I can welcome you to Italy Magazine and becoming a member.

There are a lot of people, very nice people that have great advice and a great sense of humor. They should be able to help you. I think of myself more of the cheerleader for those of you who live in Italy or are moving there. :D

Welcome again Gill.

Hi Gill,

Just to say hello from one of many who are in Puglia. We would also like to relocate in the next coming years (fingers crossed). What ages are your children and are they learning the language yet.

Welcome once again

Paula

Hi Gill and family :)

No advice, as not that far yet, but wanted to say hello, and travelling first! What a lovely idea :D

Welcome to the board, and, eventually to Italia. :)

we did the move in May. All will be fine I'm sure.

We live in le Marche so not near but we have 2 children (7 and 3) and they have just strated school

Thankyou so much to the people that replied to my post,

My Children are 7 and 5 and have currently gone back to their english school relucantly, as they thought the next school they would go to would be italian.
They are picking up bits of the language, and mostly calling each other "Grande bamino", but it is a start and i don't believe in pushing them to hard.

Hope to hear from some of you soon

We haven't pushed at all but spent the summer on the beach encouraging friendships. I think it helped, some with language but more with coping with not understanding whats going on around them and learning coping mechanisms for communication with limited language. This is their first week and so far so good.

Welcome to the forum.

We are planning to relocate to Abruzzo next July/August with our three children, 8, 6 & 4, and we can't wait.

All the very best to you all.

We have a villa near Ostuni which we currently only use for holidays. We have two kids , a girl of 6 ,nearly 7, and a little chap who's 3. Would love to meet up if our visits etc, etc coincide.

sure it would be nice to meet some people, and exchange stories, would be nice for the children having some english speaking friends..... might make it not seem so scary, for all of us.
