Its so warm here,I'm sat in the conservatory with all the windows and doors wide open, kids all in bed and just opened a bottle of wine. :)

It is cold, especially at 6am when I have to get up to take the kids to school.

it's lovely during the day but i agree it's chilly in the evening, we put the fire on just to take the chill out! but i expected that being in the mountain

hi everyone in Le Marche!!! Paul and I are due to fly out on monday, and i just dont know what to pack to wear, We are only in ancona for a week, as we are meeting the architect at our home in montale, is the weather warm during day? or is it cold? i believe there has been rain. dont really want to take a mixture of clothes, because i want to take small case in cabin with me, its big enough for one week, help !!!!!!!! whats the outlook next few days , thank you Francesca.

You can get a 5 day forecast from the BBC weather web site.

you can get a 10 day forecast at Yahoo weather and select your nearest town.

Sorry to change the subject folks.

Lyn, is it normal for this much activity to be taking place in Piazza Nzegna this early in the morning?

Dunno Sue, i'm still in me jim-jams !!! :D

I still haven't managed to get on the site....my security doesn't like it and i get strange warnings when i try to disable it...don't want to risk it ...my friend had no end of trouble with viruses a while back .

What going on then...curious now !!!

Just looked at 10 day forecast for Brindisi !!!!

From today to 30th Sept. thunderstorms, rain and showers :( ....BUT on the 1st October ...my brother-in-laws birthday ( they arrive on 30th Sept.!!!) SUNNY :) ....and Sunday as well :) ...can't believe my luck !!!...Highs of 73-74 degrees !!! Woooppeeee !!!

On his birthday had told him we would have breakfast on the Verandah and go to beach in the morning have lunch out and then come back for a siesta and then a BBQ in the evening (that may be round the radiator admittedly !!!)
...Looks like it might happen after all.....one very happy bunny !!!

Up early, done last nights dishes (what a slut leaving them till the next day), clicked on Piazza Nzegna ... as one does y' know ;)

Pitch black but lots of cars parked up (and a white van man) and guys tooing and throwing - left of screen. What's going on I ask myself

Just realised that the building far left, bottom picture is probably the only bar that opens that early in the morning for miles around and they're stopping for a quick coffee and grappa on the way to work

There's a thought. Grappa with your early morning coffee Lyn. That'll warm you up ;-)

Lynn, my mate John goes home this morning, so, get ready for the heatwave :)
Rafey, he's on his on his way to Sheffield... ;)

Frantiani, thermals work for all extremes and extremities :D

Well,

Me and my big mouth - we have rain this morning in Leeds!!!

Ahhh, try it with Anice...nice... but, don't drive for a day o two :D

"Unusually warm" (quoting radio Forth!) in Edinburgh the last couple of days @ 18 C ... but freeeeeezing cold at night!! Brrr!! We started our heating up a good few weeks ago (in fact in mid-August! ), switching it off during the day & back on in the eves.

And never underestimate the power of a cosy coal / log fire with aforementioned bottle of wine! :D

consider yourself lucky just to be cold...... the news has shown lots of floods in both puglia and marche....and naples had a half hour of rain which managed to detroy for the fourth time in a year one particular area.... cars piled on top of each other ... the north is faring better today and there is sun but they have had massive problems with floods in piemonte...as usual roads in calabria have been closed due to land slides....

is all this usual...well it is... it will get warmer again.... but italy is not like spain... and especially the adriatic side has a continental climate.... one area that always seems to catch it is puglia... it seems to circle aroun bari for days on end...

which is in a sense why i live here in abruzzo... in the teramo region...we have had half a day of rain...one afternoon... the night temps are still on average around 16 c.... day anything from 24c up... if you live too close to the mountains ...about 20 km if that from us the days over the last week have been wet and grey the nights...look at temperatures in aquila... the almost coldest place in italy down to 10 or 11...

the other problem here is the houses are cold... they take an age to heat up... and once you start using heat you then realise the cost of it... when you have spent your first thousand euro you might well have thought it might have been better to buy a modern house...tiled floors are fine in summer but cold oh so cold in winter...

thats why when you suddenly drop from the hot summer temps to more or less temps in england which you might almost consider warm you feel it so much here....

it just so happens i like these changes...fresh nights... we still have all the windows open are nice... and a bit of wind and rain a pleasant change... and luckily we dont get the floods here that most of the rest of italy seem to have suffered...

as a biased inhabitant of this area i feel quite content ... on a brighter side...last year in november i was helping neighbours with olive picking in bright sun and temps of 25c ... so dont despair yet... but then again i dont live in puglia

At least it does not snow in Puglia. Montreal has had it's 2nd hottest summer in recorded history, 23 days with the temp above 30 C. Even September has been great. This is the first time in the last 5 years I have not vacationed in Puglia. I guess I was lucky ( I would still take the rain and be there). I'm sure next summer it will be back to normal.

I envy you all who have moved there on a permanent basis. My day will come rain or snow.

You are complaining, I live in London (which I once thought tropical after moving there from Manchester). Now let me tell you about rain, the only reason there isnt floods in Manchester is because everything has already all been washed away several centuries ago. When I first moved down to London I couldnt believe people planned barbeques in advance, up t'north we wait for one of those 3 days of true summer we get, ring all your pals, and get in that garden (still armed with a brolly you never can tell).

Anywhere in Italy is beautiful, and is hotter, rains less, has better food, lovely wine and friendly people. .

Glad the weather is perking up for when the Puglian party is happening, its even rained in Greece last year thank heavens for fake tan!

don't bank on it not snowing in northern puglia at least, as it has in the past.
family come from campania, but the town borders both puglia and molise.
most families with cars have snow chains, and as late as april i think it
snowed in the area.
