1564 Weddings in Italy

We're planning to get married in Italy next May or June - we're looking for a country house / winery / small castle for a simple civil ceremony and reception for about 80-100 people. We're anxious that we get somewhere that's not too touristy - somewhere a bit quieter and relaxed.

Has anybody got any recommendations or information on suitable venues, or even the best way to go around organising a wedding in Italy?

Thanks very much,
Garbhan

We got married in Italy on the 27th of August, some pics are here: http://photobox.tiscali.co.uk/album/1812238

we had our reception at the www.lacommediadellapentola.it it was amazing. If you need to get in touch with Wilma ( the owner) I can help you, as she doesn't speak english fluently (her son does).

Unfortunately I don't have at the moment many pictures of the reception, but I will get them soon.

The food was stunning and all our Scottish side of the wedding party loved it!!!

If you wanted a castle you could go to Grinzane cavour ( http://groups.msn.com/MatrimoniodiCinzia a few pics here) but it might be more expensive...

Beautiful though!!

Hi Paola,

You looked stunning! :) I loved the piccies, especially with the Scottish piper leading the way out of Church!! Very nice!

Stephanie

Thanks!
and we brought the scottish weather with us, it was raining so much!
All the italians loved the piper, it was very moving...he was actually from Genoa, not really scottish... but he was very good according to the scottish experts!

Thanks very much for that Paola - it looks like a stunning location.

There's so much involved in this - we're looking at having 80-100 guests from Ireland, which means flights, accomadation and catering for a large group. Also, I'm a bit concerned that some people will not travel because of the distance/expense involved.

Thanks again for your input.

I know what you mean, I had the same problem.
Here are some more pics: http://photobox.tiscali.co.uk/album/1974711

I made a website to sort everybody out, have a look at it, it might come in handy: http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/kevinandpaola/

it has all the places people could book into, the flights, car rental, etc.
The region is not too expensive, so it could work out well.

I have a friend there who organizes weddings, so I could put you in touch with her, unless you feel confident you could it yourself, I am here if you need tips and telephone numbers.

This castle is to die for and is the perfect setting for a wedding. They arrange everything for you including the church, hairdresser, flowers reception the whole works! It is located in Calabria and the views are spectacular!
