General chat about Italy

40 last July and things can only get better and better and better - I'm lovin it :D

...a good mix of ages from 'our James' whose just got a job in Umbria in his early twenties to old codgers like us ...everyone is young in Italy anyway !!!! :)

41 and 42, but we're still a couple of years away from being in Italy permanently :( I should never have joined this forum so early, it's like torture! :p

44 and 52 (yes I married a toy boy!), and loving it ......... life just goes on getting better and better, and next month we'll be in Puglia, permanently

43 (me) and 67 (him).

Yes he is a cradle-snatcher - and I got to retire at 38!

Lesley & Brian

Nice!!! I'm 36 and my other half is 30!! Yep another toyboy...

What a great mix of folks on here!!

Hmmm Lesley - you're so lucky .... :D

LOL, 56 and looking for a toy girl, preferably Italian :) :) ;)

Hi there,
well I am 51 and my hubby is 52.
All I can say is that I felt great in my 40's, but now not so sure about the 50's :( Hopefully things will calm down in a few years, so that we can enjoy our retirement in Italy, when we find our "dream" place to live :)
Ciao
Francesca
........make sure she isn't from Puglia !!!!!! :D
LOL, could save a fotune on night lights though, although she'd also keep the dog numbers down, think I will give consideration to Calabrians though, so well balanced...

We are heading back to Calabria soon.
Should I warn all the females when I get there that George is on the lookout??
:D :D
Lesley

I'm 39 tomorrow (I'm dreading the big 4 0 , next year ), and he is 45.

Naaah, don't you dare, simply have them scrubbed down and sent to my tent ;) ... LOL they should also have VERY low expectations :)

Hi everyone,

Couldn't resist answering this one. I am 55 (going on 35) and my boyfriend of 10 years is 43. How's that for a toyboy? We are very happy living here in Verona and riding around on our motorbike. I love the site. Great to see I am not the oldest.

Woohoo Val! Nice one.

Looks like my 'old man' is the oldest then ! :p
Lesley & Brian

John is 54 and Dee is 50. We're waiting for a sale of our current home, then off to find a place in beautiful Italy!

I'm 51 and added now the birth year also in the profile

I'm 40 and will be 41 next Sunday.

Unfortunately Paula my boyfriend says you've got it the wrong way round.

I agree with you!!

Val

At least Leslie you have got it the right way round, I wish I could retire now.

I wish also that we lived further south as everyone seems to be a lot further down than me, do hate to miss a good party.

I'm 45, husband 50. George if anything happen, not that I want it to :p am I young enough for a girl toy for you? Hee Hee ;)

Hugs, Peggy

How weird - I'm 45 and my husand is 37... What is it about old wise gorge women and lovely younger partners and Italy?!!

Must be something in the air..
M

Fascinating (albeit completely lightweight) thread!
Thanks GlenB for asking the question - and to everyone for getting into the spirit of it! :D

Lesley & Brian (still with the record for being the most decrepid!)

Maybe I should move to Italy and find a younger man than going for the older ones! :D Hmmm I'm going to think about this....naw, my husband is pretty good, I'll stick it out with him in the states and think about the younger men in my dreams of me living in Italy ;)

Good for you Peg, gotta give us old guys a bit of hope in the future :D thinking now that I'd better resign myself to loneliness and solitude, "SOB, SOB" :p

Am 28, turning 29 in January 2006.

LOL! I like it... glad I'm not the odd one out hehe... ;)

Here's a copy of a wonderful message I recieved in my email yesterday that I'd like to share with the women here. This message was sent to me from a woman friend (who's a doctor and has a great sense of humor). I think the spirit of the women (with and or without toy boys :) ) on this board may agree with this message of cheer:

Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman's Day, so please send this message to someone you think fits this description. Please do not send it back to me as I have already received it from a Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman! And remember this motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

:D :D
Love it, my philosophy of life to a T

We are going to take our UK car with us next month when we move to Puglia to use until we get our Residency and can buy an Italian car. Been searching around for insurance and found a reference here earlier to Saga.

Been online and on the phone with them and we have got fully comprehensive insurance throughout UK and Europe, no limitations for £175!!!!

Oh the joys of being over 50!! ;)

Well, my earliest Radio and TV memories would be Jimmy Young's morning show recipes, the Beach Boys, the Vietnam war, the Banana Splits and HR PuffnStuff. Just missed The Cuban Missile Crisis and wished I could remember exactly where I was when a certain person died but can't quite!
My wife was born 11 months later and had to endure an agonizing 25 year wait before finding me! Poor thing. :)

Derek

Just turned 39 and anxiously awaiting 40. Throughout my thirties I've always been referred to as young at heart, but I've noticed since 39 the word immature seems to be replacing it :o Hmmmm.

Enough of the cryptic clues - just tell it like it is - how young are you :)

L & B

I'm 42 (43 in december), my wife 42 too.

Derek you should be about 45/47, correct?

I'm younger than you Notaio! Cuban Missile Crisis - 1962. Kennedy's murder - 1963. Earliest radio/tv memories - 1968/1969. I'm 42 and a few months. My wife is 41.

Having spoken to Neal and discussing his birthday cake for next week when were in Italy, I've just realised he's 12 months younger then I thought he was :p He's 36 on the 23rd not 37. Even better :D

I'm wearing a t'shirt today that says it all

I't not the men in my life that bothers me!
I's the life in my men.....................;)

No idea of your tv memories of course, I might talk about the italians...
I just thought you were too young to remember Dallas.
Btw, I'm not older than you, we are old the same. ;)

I am 43 will be 44 in a couple of weeks, hubby is 56. We are planning to come to Italy to live when he get's to 60 and can take early retirement, until then we try to come 3 or 4 times a year. Roll on 3 years .

Dawn.

Can I lay claim to being an elder stateswoman at 56? Who else has the Stones first album in a crumpled cover?

OK apart from going through usual ‘I’m as old as my nose but a little older than my teeth’ :( and then followed by ’I’m 21 with 30 years experience’ :o I’ll spare you that, as I will get in to trouble from my wife by repeating old jokes.

I am 51 and my wife is 46. My first record purchase was also the Rolling Stones ‘Not Fade Away’

Hi can't do witty, mores the pity. I was 47 last month don't have a partner, still looking for the toy boy. :)
Hi can't do witty, mores the pity.
Hi Deb,
Even if you can't do witty - you can do rhyming!! :D
Regards, Lesley (feeling a bit left out now as she hasn't got a toyboy)
