1833 Mosaic Courses in Italy

Has anyone gone to a mosaic school/course in Italy?

I am keen to go to one next year to broaden my skills in this artform (mine are limited to what I gleaned from a very thin book).

The best place I have found so far is http://www.sira.it/mosaic/

The course outline and prices seem reasonable, but I would be interested to hear from anyone who might have done a course like this in Italy.

Hi Sano, there are some young friends of ours close by who run courses. Can in touch directly. You may also be interested in a Art Masterclass we are organising for next spring, with internationally acclaimed artist, Charles Harris who specialises in Italian history and art.

Hope you are well

Dear Sano,

the up coming December issue of Italy Mag will have my Day Tripper Article about Ravenna and I include the details of an excellent course on Mosaic art, traditional and modern run by a lovely English speaking lady. Here is the extract of my text:

"Leaving the basilica directly opposite you enter Via F Negri where you’ll find the Mosaic Art School that run five day courses in traditional and contemporary mosaic in English taught by Luciana Notturni (www.mosaic school.com). "

all the best

Good luck with your eventual course. We can confirm that the best place to hunt for a suitable course is definately RAVENNA. We think that the local authority run a Mosaic School, but we don't have the info. with us here in U.K.
You will be amazed to see the wealth of mosaics in the various basilicas and churches in the city, which is a World Heritage Site, mainly because of the mosaics. If you eventually find yourself there in the coming year, please get in touch, as we spend most of spring, summer, and autumn just near the city and we would like to meet up with you
