1995 Christmas Party

What's the uptake on Giambrone's party in London on the 7th Dec? Anyone going? Just found out I might be in London then.

General chat about Italy

It would be good if most of us on the SE of England could gather together (like the Puglia people did a few weeks ago!)!

My husband and I will definitely be going, together with our neighbours who are buying a property in Puglia (we are in the Abruzzo area instead!).

I spoke to Gabriel today, who confirmed that their Italian lawyers will be there as well so it would be good to get to know all those people who are assisting us with our purchase! :)

anyone else from this forum coming?!

Hey Kilburnium/Puglinese people here that work in London, count me and Kate in if you are meeting up somewhere, please let us know the details.  :p

Has the date been changed to 7th Dec? The date in Charles's first posting was 15th.

I will only be over on the 22nd December, so will miss this. Hopefully will be able to make it to some future gathering, either in the UK or in Italy...

hello pugliese/kilburnians! :)

You can either contact the lawyers directly by email: info@giambronelaw.co.uk to obtain directions, but our invitation states that the party will be held at Pops in Central London, nearerst tube station is Tottenham Court Road.

Hope this helps!

oops, hope not! :)

come on all you Abruzzo fans-why not I Love Abruzzo t-shirts
come on all you Abruzzo fans-why not I Love Abruzzo t-shirts
Why not 'I love Giambrone' tee shirts :D After all, he's the one doing his professional best for the people using him. Just have to say that he's in the process of saving us a lot of potential trouble and strife with our purchase. If I were living in London, come Christmas I'd be at that party with bells on.

Just reading again a comment posted by BrendonFG a few weeks ago: "we have been impressed by their (Giambrone Law) professionalism. My wife also tells me that he is very dishy(!)."

so, Sue, how are you "using him"? :D would you like to exand on that?! :p :p

It doesn't look like anyone has replied to you so I will. Although those who use Giambrone & Law have received personal invitations it is my understanding that anyone who uses this forum is also invited. However, they do ask that you let them know beforehand by emailing events@giambronelaw.co.uk

We don't know anyone either and it looks like Laura is trying to find some way of us identifying ourselves. Can I suggest a subtle (i.e. very small) sticker with an 'F' written on it. Boring I know :( but it might just work! :D

It could be they have a private area reserved. Apparently, POP caters for private parties.

I remember studying that American classic The Scarlet Letter where the heroine was branded with a single letter - in this case an "A" - and I don't fancy any of the possible associations with the letter "F". :p

Why don't we wear a pair of Gucci/Prada/Versace (etc.) shades or come with a sprig of rosemary in our teeth?

Sunglasses, buffers jackets and red, red lippy:p
Sunglasses, buffers jackets and red, red lippy:p
Sounds good to me...but what will the women wear?:D

well, well, well....that's for us to know and for the party-goers to find out!

;)
Has the date been changed to 7th Dec? The date in Charles's first posting was 15th.
Yes the date has been changed to the 7th Dec.

does anyone know where is the nearest parking to this venue? i have looked on streetmap but could not get any information!

is anyone else going to drive?

....i forgot to mention that there is one more reason to celebrate now....I HAVE BECOME EQUESTRIAN!!

how long will it be before i get promoted again to senator??

:D

Laura
Senator = 100 posts

Keep posting

i know it may sound a silly question but our invitation to the party did not specify a dress code.....casual, smart, or italian style? :-)

I'm off to catch a flight. To all those going tomorrow night, see you there!

Cheers, Derek

No worries...it is not fancy dress! The venue specifies common sense as far the dress code goes. I think that smart casual will be OK.

See you all there.

It was delightful! Quite amusing putting faces to names(!) but a great time was had by the tuscanhills'.

Thanks Gabrielle!
Any hangovers around?
No hangover but we did oversleep  :D

Hmmmm, makes me wonder if the party was good at all!;) Some people here say that without hangover the party hasn't been long/good enough. Well I wish I had been able to attend but had to choose between London and five days in Italy before Christmas.

we thought that the party was actually really good....there was enough wine on the tables but people seemed to be more interested in chatting away about their italian homes than getting drunk! i also didn't expect that so many people would have been attending! :D

tuscanyhills: where were you sitting? i know that most of the forumers were sitting at the corner at the far back (Gabrielle said), we spent most of the night chatting to our new neighbours in puglia, who also live in london and who we met through giambrone & law as we used the same lawyers and the same estate agents....;)

we should have a party in puglia soon!

PS: at the party we were given the good news that our completion should happen in mid january!!!

Nice to hear you had good time, do you have an idea how many were from the forum?

party was excellent. there were too many people in the end so it was hard to know who was from the forum and who was amongst their normail clients. however, we were introduced by one of their lawyers to other couples who are also buying or have just bought in abruzzo (near penne) and we had quite an enjoable evening discussing about our future dream of moving to italy for good.

it was interesting to share experiences with people who had been in our situation before....

I was there! I arrived on my own and was a little unsure at first if I was in the right place. I was welcomed by a young couple by the entrance who turned out to be from the same London borough as myself and who had bought "a piece of land and a pile of bricks" [their words!] in Marche. I had a very pleasant evening conversing with them, but as a crusty old OAP found the venue to be too dark and noisy to encourage getting to know everyone. But that's me!!

Ivan.
...tuscanyhills: where were you sitting?...
We were jammed in the red bit on the far right as you entered; loads of folk to talk to & wine kept on coming, so I saw no reason to move or mingle, hehehehhehe!
Any hangovers around?:D
Well, I needed some paracetemol in the morning...!

yes I was "over in the red corner" also most of the time and enjoyed the evening
those who were there earlyish got champagne and later there were chicken wings & sossies

To those who didn't go to the soiree & cannot understand 'the red area' that some are mentioning, IT WAS ALL RED, the whole alcove.
Redder than a Bangkok Brothel, (so linda says).
Lit by 'T light candles' & a mirrored ball reflecting a red spotlight. All set off by a, err,a red carpet & red stools.
Just the thing to enhance my complexion.
As we got there early, we bought 2 drinks, a southern comfort & lemonade & a pint of disco fizz, cos that's all they had.........9.80english. I said WHAT, in a very loud voice & he said would you like a receipt, i said no, smelling salts. The best bit was that he served the southern comfort in a 1/2 pint tumbler & filled it with lemonade, i mean TO THE TOP.
Hey, what do i know? . At 54 i've been out of the clubbing scene too long.
Apart from that we went to put faces to names & meet the gang. It was reassuring to meet so many people with the same dream & sympatico regarding Bella Italia.
Personal message to Charles Joseph;
YOU ARE FAR TOO YOUNG!!!
Thanks again to Gabrielle, Stefano, Ramon, Massimo & last, but by no means least, David.
We think this could be a useful yearly event that would bring those with an Ialian dream closer by meeting those of a like mind.
Grazie tutti
Roberto e LindaX

A bit after the event now but we went to Italy the day after the party and have only just returned. We enjoyed the party and it was good to be able to put some faces to names - good to meet you Derek after all that PM'ing!

We did take some photos but unfortunately the 'red area' wasn't particularly condusive to good photography (nothing to do with the amount of alcohol consumed!). Anyway we do have a good one of Jane with Gabriele which I will post on here as soon as I get time and then you can all see what it's like to have a 14 year old avvocato sorting things out for you!:)

Good to meet you too! Maybe the photos not turning out so well is a good thing! :)

I know what you mean about Gabriele! I was on the point of asking the management why they were allowing children into the club!! :)
