Travel & Holiday Advice

Hi, not overly familiar with Pisa itself - when last visited did little more than visit the tower (which is definately worth it and should be more pleasant out of season) and some of the old town.
However, I would recommend that you pay a visit to Lucca (centro storico - within the walls) which is a must seeing as you will be only half an hour or so away by car/train.
Regards
Steve

I was going to say the same........ do Pisa for about 10 minutes, then go to Lucca, cycle along the walls, enjoy an ice cream (go it La Tosca off Piazza s/Michele as it's run by friens of ours!) and check out the shops!

Pisa has never really held it for us, sorry!

I'm surprised at the shallow answers concerning Pisa, one of Italy's oldest, most famous cities and one of the 4 Maritime republics as well as being Galileo's home town. The Baptistry with its acoustics is a must and the very vibrant student population means there are lots of inexpensive places to eat/drink. If you want to find out more about the city check the websites listed in the bibliography of my latest book (presented in a magnificent frescoed hall in Piazza Santo Stefano )
Try to stay at the historic Royal Vittoria -that has also hosted Charles Dickens and US astronauts.
