Hi and another warm welcome to the forum.
We bought our villa in June but it still needs work doing on it. We are on the road that leads from Caravigno to San Vito, just behind the Hotel Carbrun. Great to have more expats in our area and you will have realised there are loads of us now. Dont forget to put your little fag on the map attached to the forum and please put a pici, we love picies.

Hi to all three of you!
Welcome to Puglia. It's a big place but there definately seems a concentration of interest around the area you have chosen. We're not too far, just down the road towards Ostuni.
We've got to agree, the Puglia people are lovely, sincere, caring and always at hand to help. I'm sure you won't find that it's just a one off finding your chap.
Ciao!!

This is a notice for the Puglia people already living there.
Have a look this evening on Canale 5
There's a TV movie called "Giudice Mastrangelo", which is a sort of comic/thriller film, entirely set in the Lecce area: beaches, olive trees, landscapes, monuments etc.
Places you should like to watch.
In the yesterday's show, one of the characters was a funny english woman
who was a wedding planner: may be Lyn or Paula ?;)

Welcome to the forum and to Puglia and many congratulations on the birth of your baby daughter. We`re here in Martina Franca, not too far away. We`ve been living here about 15 months and love it. We find the Puglian people very sincere and friendly too (most of them, that is!!). Hope all goes well with getting your villa organised.

Hi everyone, gosh didnt expect so many replys...thanks...
Actually we are a family of 4,we also have a boy Timo who is 6....
Isabelle who is now 9 weeks, was our new addition,we took her to puglia at just 5 weeks..Another reason for loving Italy they adore children and welcome them everyware. Not like england where we are subject to some dodgy childrens pub..ie.Wacky warehouse,,horrible.
We Plan to spend lots of time in the villa but we are not able to commit to moveing full time just yet..
We plan to rent it out some of the time.....Not sure wether to use an agent or do it ourselves. Just found the website apuliabella.com
Does any one use it,or know of it???
Do you have any other recomendations???
We are going to use daltons weekly on line...its quite reasonable for the whole year of advertising.Anyone use this?
We are based in Northampton by the way.
Regards
jo

Hi, Also new to website, looking through making copious notes on peoples advice/experiences. Complete novices, recently stumbled across Puglia, my husband visited there with my father a couple of weeks ago as my dad was looking to buy and we seem to have somehow bought a villa ourselves. Due to complete mid January. This is in San Vito dei Normanni, I'm also expecting a baby due April 2nd, so hope I don't have any problems flying. Just wanted to say how encouraging and friendly you all sound.

I don't believe it........... Hi Jo, we're in San Vito also, where abouts have you bought. I flew at 28 weeks with doctors permission, something to do with insurance and they usually don't let you fly after 28 weeks but with a note from the doc's I was allowed but must say that was 8 years ago so things may have changed. Yours travel insurance Co with clarify.....good luck anyway with the house and the baby and a very big welcome from all of us in Puglia, particularly Ostuni, Caravigno. San Vito, Martina Franca. Where in the Uk are you and did your farther find anywhere.
Paula

Welcome to the forum Jo.
I hope you don't have to do much work on the house, they're a pretty mad bunch down in Puglia, having parties and enjoying their lifestyle ;) (NO I'm not envious :) )
Have fun

Thank you so much Paula and Stribs. My dad hasn't found anywhere yet. I'm still in shock we are actually doing this. My dream since childhood to live in Italy, and my husband always sceptical about the idea - stunned me when he said he had found a place, get some money quick! We live in Reading, Tim my husband is a Corgi Heating Engineer/plumber, and if in the future workwise it is viable we will look at living in San Vito permanantly. The little villa we are buying needs lots of work, but for now a clear out and clean up will be adequate. I will be 28/29 weeks pregnant when we come on 14th Jan, but I will get a doctor's letter next week.
Kind regards
Jo

Hi Moffy,
I am also called Jo. My baby girl is 10 weeks now.
i flew at 34 weeks, that is the insurance limit. However I flew back at 35 and half weeks. Ryan air wont questions unless you look exceptionally big, just hide your bump.As long as you are in good health flying is fine short haul..
Good luck...Our timing was rubbish for the signing we had to delay it as she was born 3 weeks early, then Andyflew out and signed on his own 3 days after she was born....
Everything hunky dorey now....Worth all the stress...Also back at villa in January...San Vito our local town..
Good buying
C U there
Jo

That was my second guess! I suppose you mean Old Great Mäkinen whom I've briefly met couple of times, actually I was watching the RAC Rally (1976?) in Bath and I think that was his last WC competition were he drove out on the second stage. We stayed in the same hotel and in the evening of the retirement day we had quite fun in the bar, and he offered to everybody. Ari V. was starting his career same year in Britain.
I've been interested in several motorsport types but from rallies seen ones the Thousand Lakes, San Remo 1984 and Corse 2000. It's hard and big hassle to get to the stages usually - i'd like to do the action itself.
I hope your project with Italy developes nicely and that you enjoy it
Paul

Hi Moffy. Whereabouts in Reading are you? We moved here from Reading in September 2004. We lived on Lower Earley (Hilmanton) but now live in Martina Franca. It`s a small world!!
In reply to A newbie all over again! by Annec
Hi Jo.
Myself and my partner Rachel are also your 'holiday home neighbours' !! We bought a villa in November in San Vito dei Normanni, and will hopefully start renting by next summer.
All the best,
Ric

Hello Smiths, We live very close to Lower Earley, we are on the Wokingham Road, Earley. As I'm sure you saw Reading is becoming a sprawling City, changed a lot.
Sounds like you've found a gem with the chap who is helping you...the Puglians are great aren't they :) ..but if you need anything, we'll always try to help ( we're no experts tho' !! but sometimes 2 heads are better than one !!! ).:)
We've been here since May so have had to overcome a few teething problems ourselves !!!!
Are you here permanently ?.....
