2140 British Embassy - Rip Off

Am trying to contact the British Embassy here in Dublin by phone - what a mission!

Looking at their website, this is the info on how to contact them:

[i]All visa enquiries are handled on our behalf by ABTRAN e-Care and Fulfillment
This enables the visa section staff to concentrate fully on processing visa applications as quickly as possible.

Abtran's lines for Dublin applications are open from 0900 to 1700, Monday to Friday, except Embassy Holidays

Callers in the Republic of Ireland should ring 1570 214 314. Calls are charged at Euros 1.75 per minute.

Callers in the United Kingdom should ring 0906 664 8472. Calls are charged at Stg 1.50 per minute.[/i]

Personally I resent being charged €1.75 a minute just to make an enquiry...

I found a website which lists geographical (i.e. not premium) rate phone numbers for the various departments of the British Embassy in Dublin as follows. I haven't tried any of the numbers, but it's worth a go...

Thanks, this will come in very useful. I rang through to the Foreign Office in London earlier this morning as this was still cheaper than ringing the Irish number. Have lodged a complaint re this with them as I think it is ludicrous to pay so much to make contact.
