2196 cost of living in LIguria

I would appreciate any information, as regards the cost of living in the Liguria area.

Information on property taxes, water rates, electricity, gas etc etc would be very helfpul in determining whether or not we can afford to consider living there permanently.

If it helps, as a baseline, we would be looking for a house with garden, in a town - up to around 300,000 euros.

We currently have a holiday home in southern Spain (inland) - where all these charges are low and known to us. I would like to consider a permanent move to Liguria - if affordable - into retirement.

Cheers

Ian

Any Ligurian will tell you; they are known as the Scotsmen of Italy. Very careful with expenditure but with a tidy balance in the bank. As everywhere you cut your cloth according to your means.

There are a variety of lifestyles available in this area you have to choose. Liguria is a long narrow area with considerable variation along its length. The closer you are to the sea the smaller and more expensive the property will be. In town or out, small village or suburb - you have to visit and explore, see what you like and what seems practical and affordable.

Cost of living seems reasonable - the price you quote for house seems good, from what I know you should have a reasonable choice, depends which "end" of Liguria you want. Be careful not to go too far "inland" to the north unless you have reliable transport to get to and fro, it can be a pest when arriving at Nice or Genoa. I know a good agent near San Remo if you want that end.
Prices are going up - aren't they everywhere !

Yes the agent's name in San Remo would be nice for me also. I'll be looking again this week in Liguria - though probably for land to build.
