2231 rifiuti, rifiuti, rifiuti!

Does anyone know if you have to include all your "space" in the total square meterage for the rifiuti? Our place can only be lived in on the first floor, the ground floor has some facilities but I certainly wouldn't want to live there just yet!!!!

Thanks, Simon and Jo

There should be two separate categories for measuring the rifiuti tax. Abitabile =...sqm ; then the magazzino, cantina or other spaces where you dont actually live =sqm. For these you pay less. . In our town at least you pay according to how many sqm you have, not how many people are inhabiting the house. Bigger the house=more money you pay for rifiuti. If you are a single person living in the house you pay 30% less but you have to go and tell the Comune office this. Whatever you pay it does seem to be a bit too much, doesnt it?

We've just had first rifiuti charge since we moved in.

There are two lines, one for sqm for the habitable space and one line for the catina / magazzino / garage whatever we decide to call it.

Did a search through the forums and raked up this ancient thread which tells me that the two items are charged at different rates.

On ours however, the garage / magazzino rate is higher per sqm than the house which seems a bit odd. I would have imagined it to be the other way round.

I'll ask my neighbours who have similar house styles when we're next over early December but just in advance querying other members' experiences.
