Worked in Florence when I was 18/19 and had a whale of a time and now we have retired here in Puglia. Can't help with accomodation but really hope you get sorted and keep us posted on how things are going.

Hey, yes that is a good thought and to be honest I had not really considered that option.
I guess there is no harm in asking...
I know that this would not be likely in NZ - but maybe Italians are more open to helping out work colleagues in this way. Hope so.
Do you think there are many Lombardy folk who visit this forum?

my brother, worked for an hosirey company in the 80s, he had to go and live in brescia for 3 months to learn about a new machine. he ended up living with
one of the workers families, his italian came on no end.
he now talks posh italian, where as i talk.... badly..
