My husband and I have been here about a year, actually Sunday coming is our 1st anniversary!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Puglia people

That's my first posting and I am not living in Puglia as yet but I am another Puglia fan.... My boyfriend is from Coversano near Bari and we are planning to buy in Polignano a Mare within the next few years. Don't know if any of you have ever been there but it's really nice and directly on the sea. We are holidaying in Conversano/Bari every year and that's a 2 hour drive from Ostuni.

Anyway, I really enjoy visting Ostuni and Torre de Guaceto every time I am in Puglia.

- I lived there until 1990
- I spend my summer holidays in Trani (in that tower whose photo i've posted in the member gallery)

Count us in. We';re located just outside of San Vito - follow the Brindisi road and take the turn off at the Serranova crossroads . Head right towards Mesagne then take the third turn right . We're about half a mile up the road. Remember you're all invited to New Year's Day drinks and nibbles. - post me a pm for full directions if you're coming to visit - anytime from 1 p.m. onwards and you're more than welcome if you come bearing liquid gifts!!!

I'll give you full directions before 25th December as we're flying out on 27th and haven't access to net after that. Anyone who's thinks they'll get lost lost can phone us. - will issue mobile number if you p.m. us. and we can arrange to meet up at the San Vito supermarket.!!

Hi everyone, we`ve been here since September 2004 and love it, despite quite a few `sticky` moments and lots of bureaucracy especially to do with working. Our 2 daughters (11 & 12) are nicely settled at school and have become pretty well fluent in the year and a bit. Wouldn`t go back now!

We are STILL trying to buy our Trullo near Martina Franca but we love the area none the less and can't wait for the next Puglia Party! :cool:

While here would just like to say Merry Christmas and a very Happy new year to all in Puglia and those that were but not now, like Notaio, Charles's Mum. Infact to everyone on the forum including George and Will, who may be peaking in now and then!

Do you come to Puglia in August Notaio ?...we'll plan a party specially for you as guest of honour !!!!!:) and invite all the Italian neighbours as well....everyone parties in August down here !!!!

We are a British-Swedish couple, retired, and ready to move into our new house, about 3 km east of San Vito. Everything has moved on perfectly with the construction and no delays with any formalities, so we are very pleased with the builder and his family all very supportive.
Driving from Sweden to Italy end Jan. or early Feb.
Will hopefully be 'on line' some time in March-April.
We have followed the forum exchanges regularly and picked up a lot of valuable info.
It is lovely to see that there are a growing number of Brits and other nationalities in the area. Have not seen any Swedes around ! ?
Will need some support when we play England on June 20 !

Hi there people of Puglia!!!! and other italy lovers....

We are currently near to San Vito Dei Normanni, and hopefully complete on our house next week..... so then we shall be near to San Michele Salentino, Cda Sardella.

So if anyone is near to us and fancy meeting up, drop us a message..... But please be patient if i don't reply as my net connection atm is in Cisternino.

We are in San Vito, Contrada Padallini - close to Torre San Giacomo Restaurant

Fantastic its going to be a massive beach party in Spring! I'm Elaine I live with Kate, and we are going over at the end of January to check up on our plumbing and new bathrooom ie: look at gaping holes in the walls, broken tiles, wonky pipes..no I'm sure it'll be fine. Anyhow we'll be there in summer whenever we can afford it, dancing in the sand, drinking lots of wine, telling lots of embarrassing stories, and helping Lynn and Alex out on the barbi, should be a laugh. This time we need badges with our real names and our internet names. Happy Christmas everyone and roll on spring soon after!

So nice to find out there are so many of you in Puglia! I am a rather recent transfer down here, currently residing in Bari. Originally from New Hope (outside of New York) and came to Puglia by way of Rome... following the heart. Hopefully I will be able to make some of the festivities as it is a bit lonely here, especially compared with the ex-pat community in Rome. It's been great for my Italian, but the parties are a bit tamer without the foreigners! If anyone needs to come to Bari on bureaucratic errands or a shopping excursion -- other than those I really can't imagine a good reason
:-) please drop me a note as would love to meet up for a chat over coffee, peroni, focaccia or whatever might tickle your fancy.

My wife Kathy and I would like to introduce ourselves to the forum. We finalised on our house just outside Ostuni in October and can't wait to get started working on it. It will be just a holiday home for the time being but who knows!! John

Not too much really, windows and doors replaced, an internal wall knocked down and general updating and redecoration etc. Will probably be around sometime during the summer but no fixed dates yet.

Just want to add our many thanks for the invite last night. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening and your company. We hope to be able to do it all again next time. We are hoping to organise something ourselves around June time if there are enough people about. We'll wait to see nearer the time.

I am just getting the hang of this forum - not sure quite how to use it but anyway - we are a family of four living in ireland - two small kids 4 and 1- we have just bought some land just outside san vito and as soon as we sell our house here we will be moving over permanently. We will be looking for a house to rent while we build - does anyone have any advice or experience of looking for long-term rentals in the area?

We're in Ostuni, well in spirit at least!!! Wish we could visit more often. Having renovation work carried out at the mo and hope to be complete by April.

Originally thought we were on Paula's list as 'The Smiths' but of course there's bound to be more than one of us!!

The more the merrier, The Smiths at number 3. are the dentist and his wife so will add you as number 30. Good luck with the work and keep letting us know how things are progressing.

We're also in Ostuni - though not until the some of works done!!
