2282 planning permission

I have renovated a small house in Abruzzo and now want to extend the house into the ajoining barn so I have more living accomodation. The house is in a small hill side village - what planning permission will I need and how do I go about this.I do speak a bit of the language but would like some help before I go to my geometre.
I have also not paid my community tax - everyone I ask gives me a different tale on how to pay - can someone help me - will it be billed to me like in England.

pamela...if you have already renovated the house and are happy with that work why not use the same geometra for the barn....

its obviously a much different job to an already habitable building and will require much more paperwork as you are planning to change something into a habitable building so you will require full planning permission and plans to be submitted.... and it will in general be costly...

regarding your tax situation you do not get bills sent....you have to go to the commune and pay it now.... and then twice a year...also rubbish tax might well have been missed....

many people have posted on the ease of calculating your ici and paying it... we still use a bookeeeper who charges us e10 per year for the reminders to pay and filling in submitting the payments...

Pamela, first of all the important think is to know if it possible to extend your home. What you want to do is called "Cambio di destinazione", this mean to change the use of the barn (not-habitable) in a habitable surface/volume and it is something like if you do a new building, with all the project-plans, documents and taxes needed. This "change" is not always allowed, it depends on the respect of requirement of urban planning and building-technique that must be verified.

I did not use a geomtre for the renovations just did it myself with the help of local people.(it was only electrics and painting the inside etc) Any chance of your bookkeepers details - are they in Abruzzo - I am in Capestrano - would save the pain of having to remember to pay and having to work it all out

pamela... sorry have no idea where in abruzzo you are... we happen to live close to Tearmo the city...towards the mountains...if your not in this province of abruzzo i cannot be much help...becuas you will be too far away to make any reccomendations useful... in general chat about italy i think it was stribs that was trying to draw up a list of people in abruzzo...maybe look thru general chat and then contact him if you dont happen to live near us... but if you do will be happy to help with a few names..

no I am not near you - Capestrano is south of L'Aquila on the S17 near to Popoli
