2325 Property tax

Once you bought a house in italy, must you pay a yearly property tax? (we don't live there right now).
If yes, do you get a bill from the tax payers office and must you pay at the tax office or can this be done at local Postal office? And must this tax be paid in a certain month?

Yes, you have to pay ICI which I think is the equivalent of council tax, and also rubbish tax. ICI is payable in June and December and they don't send you a bill. You have to pay it at the commune I think although someone else might be able to advise you of other payment options. Personally I haven't paid mine since I bought the house so will also have to pay a penalty when I go to pay it this June as it's almost 2 years behind. I haven't looked in to how to go about paying the rubbish tax yet but imagine it would also have to be paid at the Commune.

You also have to know how much you are supposed to pay. There are a couple of really good threads about this already on the forum along with a tutorial on how to calculate the amount due, so suggest you do a search for 'ICI' and see what you find.

Aliena - hold down the ALT key and type 0128 and you will get a € sign (assuming you are on a PC and not a MAC).;)
