Or, e) accept that sometimes people have opinions different to your own, accept that providing they're lawful and reasonable opinions you could always simply walk away, come down here, and, maybe complain that you are so bored that you're considering setting up multiple identities so that you can argue with yourself, perhaps...
"All very dull... "
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Is it that we've done every possible thread to death, or is everyone a little dull today?
This is supposed to be the worst day of the year, so maybe that's it?
I am thinking of setting up a new alias so that I can agrue with and hurl insults at myself, I'm that bloody bored... "
This section of the forum has been set up for discussions on discussions, so, I have stated on a couple of threads that there seems to be a feeling that it is necessary to either post rubbish (which, I freely confess, I have done myself) or provoke argument (which I freely confess I have done myself), this section was created to remove much of the negativity from the open forum, I am getting just a bit confused about the increase in arguments being started on many threads, apparently about nothing, or to set up some sort of inter regional squabbling, if these are openly on display, they reflect badly on the site as a whole, and often detract from the quality of posts being made, if I am wrong in thinking that the arguments should be restricted to this bit, or to the chat room, will someone please tell me.
But the plot thickens, we have had photos of "the puppies" so this impersonator has clearly taken over his house too.

YOU ARE WRONG to abuse "power" as a moderator on this Forum.
There was no "abuse of "power" my decision to close the thread was supported by the 2 other moderators on line at the time.
Then who re-opened it?
YOU ARE WRONG to not reveal openly you have this recent 'status'
Why would you assume that I or any of the others moderating the forum would need to shout, "I am a Moderator" from the rooftops, no one would have behaved differently would they
I didn't suggest you shout from the rooftops. But, other Moderators are not PATRICIANS are they?
YOU ARE WRONG to close threads without warning
threads have been closed without warning in the past, and I would still lock a thread without warning in the future if needs dictated, this gives all parties the chance for a time out without removing the thread.
Who dictates the needs? Do you have a forum guidebook and/or job description to refer to? If not, may we have an explanation why not? If your needs dictate locking a thread in the future, how long will it be locked for and how sure are you when you state it will not be removed?
YOU ARE WRONG to manipulate a situation in order to push the button
I did NOT manipulate the situation, I did try to illustrate to a poster that he was making a mistake in the reading of a post.
I disagree. I believe you manipulated the situation.
YOU ARE WRONG to impose your views on others
I am not aware that I was imposing my views on others to any degree that is not done by anyone posting anything on an open forum.
You imposed your view when you locked the thread.
YOU ARE WRONG to accuse others of sins you also commit
I accepted that I was guilty of the sins, I stated that quite clearly at the beginning of this post
You did not state this in the thread you locked and admitting the sin before committing it, does not excuse it.
YOU ARE WRONG to always be so self righteous
I repeated myself. See below. You missed one
YOU ARE WRONG to quote out of context
I used a full quote to illustrate a point I was making ref. people seeming to only want to provoke an argument
You quoted out of context in the thread you locked. You decided it was something that you could use to push the button and deliberately highlighted a post to further your crusade.
YOU ARE WRONG to manipulate a situation
You're repeating yourself, see above
You missed one, see above..
YOU ARE WRONG to restrict the rights of others
Part of the role of moderators is to help others to exercise their right to post without being attacked by people who think it is their right to post in order to start arguments.
When did you become a moderator? I am sure it was within the past ten days as this is when you starting pouncing! You have been itching to push the button for days George!
YOU ARE WRONG to restrict freedom of speech
There is no restriction of freedom of expression, the thread was degenerating, to allow that to happen restricts freedom of speech in that people are reluctant to post unless they want to be drawn into an argument immediately
You restricted any freedom because you locked the thread. It was your opinion only that decided it was degenerating. I believe it had not even developed at the time you looked it. Why is your opinion more valid than mine?
YOU ARE WRONG to believe you will suppress force with force
"Force"
I don't understand your one word reply.
YOU ARE WRONG to think we need monitoring
I wasn't the one who decided the forum needed monitoring, nor was I the one who sought out additional moderators because of the level of activity which was deemed to be unacceptable
I accept you did not seek the post, but I honestly believe you are not moderate.
YOU ARE WRONG to try to compartmentalise people
I am not compartmentalising anyone, people have their own groupings if they decide that is what they want, and they will always do so, simply though, the discussions, or arguments should be restricted, as this one is, and held in the area, Circolo reserved for them
Look at how you word your reply George.. 'groupings', 'restricted', 'held', 'reserved', We are not prisoners. Everyone may mix freely, but you can not keep some in the 'playpen' any more than you can keep arguments out of the open forum.
YOU ARE WRONG to state every thread degenerates into argument
That was not stated by me as an absolute, "it seems that"
I accept it's not every thread, but if you are going to continue to moderate in this fashion.. it could well be.
YOU ARE WRONG to stop a thread developing
It had ceased to be, it was a dead thread.
Because you decided to kill it!
YOU ARE WRONG to attempt to "push members down here"
This section is reserved for discussions on discussions, the other section of the forum is open to anyone directed from the net, or the magazine to read informed discussion on subjects Italian, not to view squabbles about Regions
Incorrect..read your handbook.
YOU ARE WRONG to attempt to 'tidy up' the Forum
That is a function of the moderators too
I accept new brooms sweep clean but Moderators with 'tidy up' minds must still be moderate.
YOU ARE WRONG to think everyone wants to always be serious
I am well aware of this fact, have never felt that everyone needs to be serious
Happy to see you concede on this point.
YOU ARE WRONG to think others don't enjoy fun sometimes
As above
Ditto
YOU ARE WRONG to not reopen the thread
The thread was, I believe re opened after a time lag, I wasn't on line at the time
It should not have been closed..that's why it was re-opened. We know it was not you that reopened it, therefore it MUST have been someone else with the power who did it. Why did they choose to reopen a thread that had, in your opinion, degenerated and was dead? Possibly, because they also disagreed with its closure and had a more balanced moderate approach.
YOU ARE WRONG to not apologise for closing it
Apologise to whom?
At the very least, I would like you to apologise to me. But, I know you will not.
YOU ARE WRONG to do it again without just reason
I didn't, as you are aware (I have posted this several times) I don't post in the evenings, RL takes over and I deliberately chose a time limited ISP to get me away from the machine in the evenings.
I said 'again'
YOU ARE WRONG to think you will make others change
I do not imagine for one second that I will make others change, and like many others, I will be saddened if the refusal of some people to change results in the death of the forum
I will also be saddened if your refusal to change results in the death 'of the forum'.
YOU ARE WRONG to think no one will challenge you
I never thought that for a minute, just keep your bile from the open forum
Are you really so sure that my bile isn't simply stuck in your throat and that's why you are angry with me George? Your argument degenerates with this comment. It's spiteful.. shows nastiness.. fear.. imbalance and flaws your argument totally. Is that moderate?
YOU ARE WRONG to believe others are not as angry as I
Ahhhh, but how many others will quietly, because they fear reprisals, simply sit thinking "he was right you know
So far I cannot see support for what you did or the way you did it, however, there are more than a few others who didn't like it. I understand you remain convinced that you were right.. this is the only reason I am taking a gentler approach with you George.
But.. most of all.. YOU ARE WRONG if you think I am sorry to tell you.. YOU ARE WRONG!
Why would I imagine you would be sorry to voice your personally held opinions???
I was rather hoping that you would be sorry that you had voiced yours when you pushed the button.
Also, if you.. or anyone else.. thinks that I am worried about how outrageous you think this posting is.. YOU ARE WRONG!!
And, at least it's in the correct section reserved for discussion of this type
I would have answered you in any thread, in any section of this forum, where you posted a question such as you posted here. It would have been pointless to answer this in another thread.. unless it was called the 'totally pointless thread' and surely then, anyone who answers in a totally pointless thread has a pointless need to do so.
We are different George, thats all, probably from different planets. I have mine and you have yours, but this doesn't mean that I will not welcome you to my world.. or that I need to visit yours very often.
I am bored now and I want to play nicely. So, if you are happy to be moderate, I'm very happy to forget it.
The spaceship is waiting. I'll pick you up from the Pub and fly you home safely.. and in the morning after a good nights sleep.. I'll fly you back to the Forum.
I'm sure you will find no one has strayed too far and we didn't need the crook so tightly around our necks after all. That's all I was trying to say.. Aliena style.. and we all know she is not moderate.. but she's not on the 'payroll'.
Not that I think you're getting paid, but if you are.. can I borrow a tenner?

AlienA, ref post no 28, which for some reason you have edited in this afternoon.
I have nothing to add to my original reply to your attack on me and my moderation, other than to point you to the original post which was to ask if I was wrong to ask if posts of this type should be restricted to this section of the forum.
Also, reference your parting shot, there is no payroll, my understanding of the moderation job is that it is entirely voluntary, however, as you have already suggested that my honesty is questionable, I have asked Ronald to confirm this point to you, then perhaps we can get back to normal service.
Should you ever feel thet we could reach a "no hard feelings" stage following this attack, the answer is no, however, my professionalism will always prevail and I will endeavour at all times to treat you with the courtesy you extend to others.
Other than awaiting Ronalds confirmation of the financial status of the moderation job, I trust this matter is now closed.

No GeorgeSSSSSsss
You may not trust this matter is now closed.. unless of course.. you push the button! ;)
In fact, the most overused words on this forum are not as most may think.. "Puglia" but are in fact, "in my opinion" often used as a get out clause so I will not use them here.
This last post of yours again shows traits and flaws to your approach as a Moderator on this forum.
You did not read my post correctly before commenting on it. You are now a Moderator and as such I assume you must be moderate. I still believe you are not capable as you cannot read and understand my simple post.
I edited for the reason stated. I misspelt the word "TENNER" I know it not a difficult word, but for some reason my keyboard got stuck and typed to many Ns.. Just as yours must have jumped to CAPS LOCK when you typed AlienA. oopsssss.. ssseemsssss my SSSS key is sssstuck asssss well. Thats better.. I've managed to fix it.
I never said you were getting paid.. I actually said "Not that I think you're getting paid, but if you are.. can I borrow a tenner?" and that has a completely different meaning from what you are trying to suggest George. I also never actually said anything about no hard feelings, but if you want to have it continue in that vein..that is up to you! Your choice.. but how professional is that attitude?
I also say you are not moderate if you treat anyone in any other way than you treat every other member of this forum. Even as a Moderator you do not have the right to discriminate against or single out any member for 'special' treatment.
:) :)

Could you all give it a rest. George is certainly not being payed for this - moderating is voluntary.
Aliena, you've had your say. We know you are not happy about George being a moderator. That's enough.
If you are in the future unhappy with some of his moderating decisions then just let me know and we will review them (but let him take some decisions first!!)
Now the matter IS closed.
