Hi
Have just been quoted Euro 543,64 + 10%Vat for the connection of the water.
As an aside, does the meter have to be external to the property as in UK so that it can be read at any time?
Grazie
Dave

Dave - it is normal to have the meter outside for reading it. Your builder will make an enclosure for the meter, the plumber will take the pipe from inside the house to this "box", and then the water supplier will bring his pipework in from the road, and they will also supply the meter.
John and Liz - As far as costs go - get yourself a preventivo from the water company. If your 200metres is on the flat it is probably going to be in the 500 - 1000 Euro range, but if you are a lot higher than the nearest connection point it may end up very much more expensive. ENEL will also give you a fixed price estimate for the electricity supply.
[QUOTE=John and Liz Collis]Have been trying unsuccessfully to get vague idea of the costs of running about two hundred metres of water and electric including their respective connections at the main. Is there anyone out there with advice on the subject?

Just taken a look at the ENEL connection charge for you
We paid Euros 505.11 inc. VAT. Not sure about the water, the electric was from the hose to a box outside the front gate which also houses my neighbours box with meter. ( This is about 100 metres.) BUT in Italy every place is different, different prices etc etc... Will try and find paperwork on the water, but cannot remember any big bills.
