2571 Mods and Rockers, Tuttttt, tuttt.

OK, so, what happened apparently was that I had me bike kicked from under me by a few rockers, causin' a ruck, Ronald, bless 'im tried to clean up the Parka, he was in a bit of a rush, it got boil washed ???, well, the blanket lining got all saggy, the outside shrunk, it just didnt look good at all, so, like, we've had a bit of a natter, I've got a new Parka now every bit as good as the old one, we've had some "Manly hugs" ;) and repainted the target on the back of the Parka for those who like them there, the bike is getting a couple of new spotlights and some real air horns too and I'm fitting stabilisers and a big crash bar. Off to the shops, bank and bar now, ohh, it's finally started snowing properly.

For those of you not around at the time errrm, I'm back, and, moderating after an incidental accident.

george... i actually protested in the general chat area about both you and marc...the post deleted and ronald cross with me and now after explanations uncross...

the point is i regard him as fair...i regard the three original moderators ...who used to have their status in their profile as excellent,balanced and with their fett firmly on the ground ... and when one...i think sano did close off a thread which afterwards he seemed to rgeret his apology appeared both sincere and honest...

now we have three new moderators... iona marc and george... if you click at the bottom of the main screen on forum leadres it will tell you who is who...if anyone wonders how you find them....

my post about moderators regarded both you and marc...is it spelt with a k or not.... i regard his control as purely commercial and i regard his removal of commercial above line postings hypocritical as he advertises one of the sponsors of his site ...primelocation whenever he can....above line

george i have always regarded you as a pretty in effective character ...posting one liners of friendly nonsense and really nothing much to say until you find someone that you can provoke into an arguement... i dont consider this as a way for a modertaor to behave...

i am more than sad that ronald has seen fit to re instate you as one.... i havent met many people like you since school ... i was scared of them then and still are... a person that wheedles around with nice views on the surface while getting other people into trouble... others may support you all they want... i find it strange that someone who has posted more inefectual rubbish on the place is regarded as suitable as a moderator ... nor a person that digs and digs with snide litlle humorous ... for some anyway .... comments to wind people up ... as either suitable to moderate or in any way someone i would want to know....

Ronald and everyone who knows the whole story. (Not many)

I have fretted over this situation since the early hours of Sunday morning and it has affected me greatly. In another thread members waited and are possibly still waiting patienly for a reply or an explanation from me.

I have only shown 'great restraint' due to trust and respect for some, the confidentiality of others and a certain feeling that my hands were tied.

But I want you all to know I am chomping at the bit!!

Adriatica, you have every right to have an opinion about me, and, I am sure thatI can live with that. In the past, I looked forward to reading your very informative replies to people with construction problems etc., many of your threads to inform people about the problems in puglia have been hi jacked, and the fall out from them has hit you on more than one occasion, so, I will continue to look forward to reading your postings, and, of course you can ignore mine, it is pretty unlikely that I would have to moderate any of your posts, but, if I have to, I will do so with respect and in the full and certain knowledge that if you disagree, you will voice your protest in front of me.

Please people this is a forum not a gladiators ring, can we all just show each other a little respect and calm down. I feel that George and Adriatica have something to offer to the forum. I'm sure it would be a lesser place with out the input of such individuals. Perhaps a wide berth may initially be necessary but can we get back to normal service.

It is sometimes difficult to find time to access the forum very regularly but often when I find this is the case a war has broken out.
I deal with my children all five of them ( from toddler to teenager) every day! but I really think that it is not so difficult to find the common ground if one seeks it out or ties a knot in one's tongue and counts to ten.
The key reason we are all here is a love of Italy so let's remember the common ground.
Just for the record I do enjoy a witty thread, god knows I need some fun!
but I don't feel this harms the forum, if placed within context.
I also really enjoy the serious threads, which are one of the reasons I joined.
I'M sure we can achieve a balance, after all we are all grown ups . ........well sort of.

Sorry this was so long, I must have had a home based rant lurking within me, still better you lot get it than my kids!!!!!!!!!:)

I quite agree, sure there are differences between each others thoughts and opinions, the way they act and their passions. If we were all the same it would be very boring and very crowded as we'd all have to live in the same house!

I vote for peace and the ability to understand that being different is not wrong or an afront to another being

This is very like the post you posted in October in a thread called Jack Russels....
That thread was started by Adriatica with the sole purpose of campaigning to have me removed from the forum and at that time you seemed to think that a good spanking and time in the sin bin was enough punishment for me but the spirit of his attack you agreed with!
Now he is at it again calling for GeorgeS to be removed as moderator but this time you think he has gone too far and what I take from that is that you have a much higher opinion of GeorgeS than of me which is kind of depressing.
Inbetween times Adriatica has insulted the pope and the German nation without censor from the moderators but only by his peers.
I wonder if the moderators would have got involved If he had insulted the prophet Muhammad instead of the pope and Albania instead of Germany. All that said, I like Adriatica's grumpy old git postings and agree with a lot of what he says about George's suitability as a moderator.

Like many of you the moderators have jobs and lives offline and are not always available to read through each and every post in each and every thread. We do rely on members to advise us when things go astray in here and they are then dealt with as appropriate. Also, we are human and do make mistakes - both of omission and commission.

Hopefully instead of sniping over choices made the good members of this forum will help us to keep this place a friendly and functioning online community where people can exchange ideas and information on Italy.

Its good to walk in the country this time of year!

I understand moderators can't be omnipresent ... only God and Aliena can manage that! My original posting wasn't a snipe at moderators for not being there as I had imagined the German/Pope thing had been let go because both are deemed acceptable targets whereas Macedonia and Prophet Muhammad might not be. This would be in accordance with the editorial policy of much of the UK media and I think the rationale is that Germany is big enough to stand up for itself and so is the Vatican.
As regards your wish for this to be "a friendly and functioning online community" I couldn't agree more but I am still sore at the way I was hounded in October (although you did come to my aid Sano) and if there is anywhere to air these type of grievances it surely must be here in Circolo di Conversazione.

Agree with you. Some of what was mentioned at that time bugged me too and I responded to it accordingly - and received fair replies from those who'd posted them in the first instance. No offence intended - so no offence taken. It happened a good while ago and I certainly don't bear any grudges.... Life's too short! :)

My Dear Stodge, Apart from the fact that there is increased paranioa going on all over this forum I would like to make it clear that I do not have a higher opinion of George than you. I agree or disagree with any situation at the time. What I said in Jack Russle thread was this.

This because he misinterpreted my remarks about the Irish ... I tried to correct him two or three times but he persisted and wouldn't retract. GeorgeS also called Giovanni a racist without due cause at about the same time.
I was very much a greenhorn at the time and this was the first forum I had ever joined and
thank goodness for those who supported me, as Valgee said at the time:

And this is the point honest well-meaning people are dissuaded from contributing to this forum because of snipers like GeorgeS and Will.

The accusation deeply affected me and in the heat of that spat I did rather a foolish thing - I trawled through a number of Will's posts and posted retorts attempting to show him up for the shallow, worthless contributor that he was.
I don't regret the trawling because that gave me the conviction to stay on this forum but the postings were a mistake and Ronald quite rightly censored me.
However, a beef that I still have to this day is that no decisive action was taken against Will for calling me a racist in the first place. Had it been, the whole unpleasant event would have been avoided. Of course, if I had not been a newbie I would have known that I should contact a moderator and seek their assistance ... but every day there are more newbies joining.
I have said this several times before: I don't think anyone should be allowed to be called a liar, a thief, a pervert or a racist in an open forum without clear evidence to support the accusation. In the event that the liar, pervert, thief or racist is merely under suspicion then the moderators and the complainant should deal with it in private and ask the suspect to account for their postings anyone who doesn't respect this principal as in the case of Will should be removed from the forum.
As Iona rightly says the insensitive remarks concerning Germans were quickly corrected by genuine and sincere apologies whereas neither GeorgeS nor Will have apologised for wrongly accusing Giovanni and me of racism. I already alerted Ronald that I suspected that I was about to be ambushed like this and he tried to warn George off but...

Stodge, In my very best preachy tone but clearly there will be little point, as you can not move on, do not appreciate cyber space causes untold misunderstandings, paranoia and human error. Here's both tests, they may help?
